Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Why does my school buy high end computers just to use Microsoft Word and occasionally Internet Explorer? They always complain about not having any money after they buy this stuff for no reason… My old crappy laptop can run those programs just fine and it’s from 1999.
They also complain about not having money for books and paper. We have to supply our own paper FOR THEM.

    It’s called computer illiteracy. They buy what their computer person (usually the person selling them the computers) tells them they need. Maybe you should find a teacher who has some input into the purchase and discuss it with him or her. Students can educate teachers.

    @Jim:
    In the US, the school district buys the computers – with money it gets by taxing the homeowners who live in the district. Then it claims that if the bloated budget isn’t voted in, busing has to be stopped for the year, and parents have to drive the kids to school.

    So that they don’t have to upgrade so often.

  • JIM says:

    The Department of Education buys in such huge quantities that they get huge discounts that Walmart could only dream of. The cost per unit is most likely even less than the retail price of a standard PC

    I wonder the same thing… Our school upgrades every year, but the tech support at our school is pathetic (they sit around playing games) and the only thing computers are "allowed" for is things such as reports (word).

    Yeah, they make no sense…

    Because of the way funding works. You’re given a large chunk of money for your capital budget, and if you don’t spend it all then next year’s budget gets cut. Also, buying higher end computers means they’re likely to last longer, which helps in case of later budget cuts. I once managed a school lab that had a ridiculous budget when it opened and incredibly expensive, high-end equipment was purchased. This was one-time money. I came along 10 years later and the computers were still running. They were old and slow, but could still be used. If they’d bought entry level computers than they wouldn’t have lasted as long.

    they are stupid and juist cause they have the money from tax payers they use all of the money when they dont need to.
