i took it with princeton review, which i think is the BEST company out there. kaplan is a close second though.
my first score was 1900. after princeton, it went to 2120. i was lazy though. most people in my class ended up with 2100 - 2400.
I used to teach SAT (math, verbal, and writing) prep at a Huntington Learning Center. I can tell you that I saw scores go up anywhere from 100 to 350 points for retests. the value of taking a prep course is that it gives you really useful test taking tips, a chance to get used to the kinds of questions and materials on each of the category exams, and you get practice and more practice. by the time you sit down for the exam, you have confidence that you can handle the questions. but as you’ve heard a zillion times, you’ll only get out of it what you put in to it. If you aren’t gonna stick with the prep course and do it "their way" it probably would be just as useful to get a study book and cram for the exam. If you decide to try a prep course, shop around … prices vary widely depending on the number of sessions, quality of test teachers, etc. good luck no matter what.

If not, forget your SAT’s. They’re a waste of time.
I guess they help, but you have to realize that if you are good in school it is just common sense. Its nothing more than an end of the year school exam that you have to take for each of your classes, the only difference is that they include things from your whole high school experience. You can go, because it will refresh your memory on some of the things that you may have taken in your earlier years of high school. I believe that you should get the SATprep book. Its about $20 and you can go to the SAT officila website,they should have it there. This book was so helpful, it taught me better than most of my teachers. They have great explanations. You can also go to the SAT website and sign up for a thing called SAT question of the day. I am sorry that I don’t have the address, but you can type in "official SAT website" to google and it should come up.
