Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

i’m gonna take math 2 and physics, but my biggest problem seems to be the timing, i could only finish half of the math test the first time i took it. which prep book will be the best for me to practice for subject tests?.

also, i did really bad in the critical reading section (410), compared to the other sections. i already have kaplan SAT reasoning prep book but i think i need another book that focuses on the critical reading section.

is the official SAT guide better or should i buy kaplan’s? or others?
oh, and should i but the study guide that has all the subjects in it? or is it better if i buy the study guide that has only physics, and math?
thank you!!

you should try the subject princeton review study guide the 2007 and 2008 addition. Since its the subject review, it focuses more on the topic on perticular. Its not that expensive plus it shows you how to aproach the problems. good luck!

One thing you could try is going to CFNC.org Which is the college foundation for north carolina. Or check to see if they have one for your state. They have an SAT prep test you can take. You can answer as many questions as you like. If you miss it it will let you try again and explain why it is wrong or why it’s right. I love it!

There is great program online that is free, and I have recommended it for my students in the past. Go to http://www.number2.com

If your main problem is timing, Princeton Review sells subject test books with full length tests in them. You can use a kitchen timer to time yourself and just keep practicing.

A low score on the critical reading could mean lots of things, either you rushed through it, skipped a number of questions, or just plain didn’t get it. All of these can be helped with practice. Unfortunately the folks at the College Board try to trip you up with the questions.

    Good Luck!

for SAT subject tests, use KAPLANS-it is the best because it has the same format, and same difficulty questions. whatever you do, do not use BARRONS-it is terrible!!

for SAT 1 reasoning test cricial reading, u can improve your score by 100-300 points by buying an SAT vocabulary book and also reading more books in general. ALSO, try reading the questions in the reading section before answering, and when they give u a line in the reading, underline it so it stands out. These little tricks helped me alot on the reading section. hope it helps!

Buy the Official Study Guide for the critical reading section. I also abhor the critical reading section because I tend not to do well on it, but the more practice I did, the easier it got. Just trust me on this one–practice. I don’t care what the test prep books say about the critical reading section because none of them helped me. The only thing that greatly increased by score for the critical reading section were practice tests. I just constantly did practice tests over and over for the critical reading and it just got easier.
For the SAT subject test, buy the book that only focuses on one subject. I prefer either princeton review or barron’s, both are good. I suggest you to practice for this one too. The more practic, the faster you get.
Practice makes perfect; just remember that.
    Good luck to you.

you should try the Princeton review or colege board. they worked great for me. as far as timing go, the most you practice, the better you will get at it ans skip questions which you are not sure of.
