What is the best laptop to buy for school?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I am a university econoimcs student and I am looking for a budget affordable laptop anywhere beteen 600-1500 dollars. I want a fast PC that I can use at home to listen to music, maybe play games, dvds, the basic stuff for a computer. I don’t want a piece of crap computer, I want a good computer, but not necessarily a desktop replacement, obviously for my price range. What are your opinions… is a macbook worth it @ 1500? with 2.4 ghz only 250 gb and 2gb of memory 128mb video card
or should i go with more of a dell or something with 2.0ghx, 4gb ram, 250 gb memory, 256 mb video card..
Macs are quite good, but you pay way over the odds for the hardware so they just aren’t worth it. Dell is quite good, so is Toshiba, just make sure you stay away from brands like Acer and you’ll be fine.
I live in the UK, so i don’t know where you can get the best deals over there, but i’ll give you some rough guidelines; as long as you get a Core 2 Duo that’s above 2GHz it’ll be fine, as for RAM, 3GB is plenty, and if you get a 32bit O/S as with most PCs, it won’t recognise a full 4GB anyway. As far as hard drive, 250GB should be fine, but 500GB would be better, if you get get it. The graphics card isn’t all to do with the amount of integrated RAM (The 256MB you stated here as an example). You want to make sure you get a PC that has a DEDICATED graphics card, not an integrated one. Look for something like a 8600M if you want to play games, but if you don’t really need it for that then a 7600M or even just an 8400M would be ok. If you want to play new games on high graphics, look for a 8700M or an 8800M, but they’re only found in pretty expensive laptops. Hope i help in your decision
You can get a damn fine desktop replacement with a budget of up to 1500. Hell you can spec out a new Dell for under 1K and save that money for books…or extras like a wireless mouse and backpack to put it all in!
