Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I didn’t do so hot on my P-SAT.. 1530.. and I’m wanting to bring it up like by at least 200 or 300 points
I am thinking about getting
‘ The Official SAT Study Guide’ by college board
as well as ‘Hot Words for the SAT’

are there any other books i need to get?
such as those that focus entirely on critical reading or math?
if so what ones would you recommend?

well if i were you, i would get a princeton SAT book and take the collegeboard SAT test b/c princeton has the equal level of the actual test.

All of the books are good and most are very similar. One thought is to go to your local library and check them out and see which one you like the best. There are also several CD/ROM versions that give you your tests on the computer.

I don’t think which book you choose is the a major issue. Make sure what ever book or books you choose that you dedicate yourself to studying them. Pick an amount of time that you are prepared to study each day (or week) and make sure that you do it!!!!

Also, when studying and/or taking practice tests, try to put yourself in the same environment as if you were taking the actual test (i.e. time yourself, no breaks, no distractions, no notes, etc. – pretend you are taking the real test!

Another hint, what part of the test is giving you the most problems (math, vocab, etc.) and plan to dedicate more of your time to this subject matter.

Note: I do ACT, SAT prep work with students (math and science) and know that if you dedicate yourself you can improve your scores; I’ve seen the results!!!!
    Good luck
