Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I decided not to go to SAT prep courses because I think I would learn more by studying straight from books myself. So I was wondering which books should I buy to study for the SAT? Should I buy from Kaplan, Princeton Review, College Board, or some other brand? If so, which specific books should I buy? Also, to study on the vocabulary, how should I study on them, using flash cards and where do I exactly buy them? Other things about studying for the SAT would be helpful too.

College Board would be my best guest. I’m in the same situation as you. I have a Kaplan program…it seemed to be alright but I didn’t really get into it. I got the Kaplan computer program. I think I would do better with a book or something because being a computer program, I kept getting distracted to want to check my emails and such.
    Good Luck.

    Go to http://www.ceeae.org

They have reviewed a ton of SAT prep books.

You can get a copy of the October 2005 test from College Board, they call it a "free" test, but it is the same test as the one administered on October 2005.

For vocab, search for SAT vocab on Google. Spark notes has a good (and free) list. There are always past test vocab lists floating around, but probably the best ones are the lists in Princeton Review (don’t forget the roots and word parts) or in the 2400 books, I think Barrons had a better list if memory serves.

KAPLAN is garbage. Don’t even consider buying anything from Kaplan. I highly recommend using TutorFox.com’s sat guide for help studying. I used it and it only cost me 10 bucks. The guide offers an extensive list of vocabulary you need to know. To study such a large list, I would recommend buying a few hundred flash cards and writing the word on one side and the definition on the other side. Overall, TutorFox.com’s SAT guide was the best I’ve used by far.

Also, buy the Princeton Review’s SAT guide. I don’t know if they still have the "PRINCETON HOT 100"

This was a list of the top 100 most tested vocab words on the SAT, and it was very helpful for the actual exam.

    BEST OF LUCK
