Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
Is it possible to program & diagnose a 1997 Vectra (Simtec 56.5) using a standard laptop and custom cable; As having VX diagnose it is costly for clearing codes.
I use the paper clip test to get the codes out, but after fixing the fault, it needs a trip to VX to clear the code and the light! Annoying!

As far as I know you an use a laptop, but you also have to have the right program in order to retrieve and set the codes or to reprogram for performance etc. You should be able to buy a code reader from your local auto parts dealer that will clear the codes and put out the light.
