Parliament Tutors Unveils State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Software to Improve Students’ SAT Scores

As the importance of SAT scores in the college admissions process continues to grow, so does the demand for private tutoring and test-prep services. Last year, over 1.5 million students took the SAT.

Parliament Tutors recently invested in state-of-the-art software to better diagnose students SAT strengths and weaknesses. “We want to be ahead of the curve,” explains Parliament Tutors President, David Greenberg. “We consider ourselves the most forward-thinking private-tutoring service in the nation. Our software engineers have developed a grading program to assess students’ strengths and weaknesses based on their correct and incorrect answers immediately upon submission. Our tutors are trained to respond to these evaluations.”

Parliament donates a percentage of its profits to sponsor free private tutoring sessions for students in need. “This campaign is special because is provides those in need with the same advantages as those who can afford first-class tutoring services,” explains Ari Smith, Parliament regional director. “Students that can’t afford group courses, let alone private tutoring, are at a serious disadvantage when it comes to competitive standardized-testing. I am proud to be a part of this effort and to give back to the community and provide these needy students with the same state-of-the-art software and top-notch tutors available to the wealthy.”

Academic Advantage, another exclusive New York City test-prep company, uses creative methods to lure students as well. Academic Advantage gives students exams under the most authentic test conditions. Studypoint and other companies offer a “200 Point Increase Guarantee” and other gimmicks to grab students’ and parents’ attention.

College admissions officials are reacting to these SAT advantages by giving increased attention to secondary tests, including Advanced Placement (AP) Exam results and SAT II Subject Test scores.

Last year over 1.5 million students took the SAT. As the importance of SAT scores in the college admissions process continues to grow, so does the demand for private tutoring and test-prep services.

“With fewer job opportunities, students that may not have considered school in the past are turning to secondary education as an alternative,” explains test-prep tutor and educator Uri Carni. “Never have we seen such a high number of standardized test-takers for secondary education.” Students have responded to this increased demand in education by stepping up their preparation strategies as college application season approaches. The SAT and ACT, complimented by SAT II Subject Tests and Advanced Placement (AP) Exams, may be the most important components in the college application process. The most important key for success is identifying your strengths and weaknesses, and building lessons accordingly to maximize your potential. Take as many practice tests as possible and focus on your areas that require extra attention and improvement.

I took my SAT’s for the first time as a sophomore this december. My results were as follows; 570-Reading, 590-Math, 510-Writing 8-essay. My goal score is a 2100 for my last time. For this test I didn’t prepare at all so that I would have a baseline. Will a private tutor help me to rise my score? When should I get it in the middle of my junior year or this year? Are the tutors as helpful as everyone says as well?

Hello. I’m currently a freshman and I took the SATs for the first time and got a 1680.
Math: 700
Reading: 500
Writing: 480
I currently have private SAT tutors and use special SAT guide books. How much can I improve by the end of my sophomore year? Any tips? (Aiming for 2000+)

What is the best way to prepare for the SAT by yourself. Its not that I cant afford tutors, its just that I don’t have the time. What are different ways I can prepare for the SAT?

So for SAT tutors my parents refused to get me one because their so expensive, so I just said forget it, ill take it and see how good or bad I do and guessing I won’t do good knowing that I got an 1120 on PSAT out of 2400. My grades I don’t worry about at all I get A’s and B’s and my gpa is a 3.0. If I take the sat and get around 1200 to 1400 am I really in trouble when applying to college? Even with my decent grades and extra curricular, sports all of that? Like If I where to apply to ASU, or pace in nyc, michigan state, florida atlantic university, would I really have a chance to getting in or with those horrible sat scores would my best shot be community college?

I am a junior in high school with a low critical reading SAT score. Other than taking SAT classes/hiring tutors, what else can I do to bring my verbal score higher?

Ever take your kid to Sylvan? An SAT test-prep or tutoring center? Are you a student/ former student yourself who didn’t have her/his learning needs met?

I have decided to start my own tutoring business. The thing is, I want the name to really POP and I want to know how to make students and parents feel comfortable and listened to. I intend to offer full service tutoring. 24 hour contact (in case he needs help on a late night cram session or project), text messaging to remind the student of any important assignments coming up, and even help dealing with difficult teachers and anything of service to my clients. But I need help figuring out the most crucial aspects of outstanding private tutoring. (I want my tutoring to be like the hotels that leave those savory dark chocolates atop perfectly fluffed pillows!)

No story or suggestion is too big or small! Just tell me–what do you wish you saw more often in tutors/test-prep agencies. I truly appreciate your comments and life stories!

I will take the SAT in October, and I’ve hired a tutor. I anticipate there will be a lot of instruction, and it is difficult for me to pay attention to someone if they talk for long periods of time. I’m unsure however of how to make the most out of tutoring, is it doing the outside assignments he gives? is it asking questions?

For those of you who have had tutors for the SAT and improved by 100+ points or more as a result, what did you do with your tutor that allowed you to make that push?

sive to colleges. I got a 2180 on my first attempt on the SAT and was wondering if Ivy League Schools such as UPENN or Harvard would be more impressed that it came from a poor school as opposed to a Private Rich Kid School, where they are offered SAT classes and all that good stuff. It seems unfair to me that some people can afford SAT tutors and get perfect scores and thus get into these top schools.

i already took the SATs and was content with CR (620) and Math scores (640), but my writing score was awful (500). I really would like a tutor this summer to boost that score at least 100 points, but my dream is for all of my scores to be 650+.
Does anyone know of any excellent tutors that are in or around NJ?

it can be workshops that wroked for you or books or tutors. Anything! I just want to get the best possible score I can get!

I am looking for suggestions with regards to SAT coaching in the summer
Are there any good summer programs geared for the SAT’s
Are there any private SAT tutors in and around the Memphis area, as my daughter would like to get some private tutoring for SAT II s
Any suggestions will be welcome
