I want to apply to the Tisch school at NYU and the School of the Arts at Columbia. I go to school in England and SATs aren’t mandatory here so I need to start tutoring soon if I do need the qualifications.

Hello. I’m currently a freshman and I took the SATs for the first time and got a 1680.
Math: 700
Reading: 500
Writing: 480
I currently have private SAT tutors and use special SAT guide books. How much can I improve by the end of my sophomore year? Any tips? (Aiming for 2000+)
Hi,
Everyone says to start preparing for the ACTs and SATs, and I need to know what I should do. Websites, Books, etc. Let me know how to "prep" for the tests.
Thanks!
so theres this SAT prep program thats going to be happening at my school. and its for free and stuff. it runs from october to december so i’d be takin the spring ones. however, im just a little concerned that i might not be able to remember what i learned. they’re offering the same program in the spring but i dont know if i’d be able to do it then. i’m a junior and i want to take the SATS as many times as i can, lol.
so what do you think i should do? wait until spring to do the program or do it now?
I haven’t taken the SATs yet, and I want to score at least 2000. I know I can easily achieve 1900, but I want to challenge myself.
I recently came to the US from Australia and as the teaching styles are quite different, it was a bit hard for me to adjust, particularly in math. If the test prep book explains mathematical concepts thoroughly, that would be extremely helpful.
Thanks in advance!
i wanna prep for the SATs but i dont know which would be better… the princeton review or kaplan?
i really need help. I know there was this site that had old questions from real SATs, and it had math, history, language arts, and i think science. Does anyone know that site?? Plz help me.
thanks, and have a great new year
I heard that the Barron’s prep book is so much harder than the real thing that you can add 100 points to your score on Barron prep tests and that will be your real score on the SATs. It kindof makes sense, but is it true?
Should I spend the money? I got a 1600 the first time on the SATs but i really want a 2000.
I took the SATs, and I got 360 in critical reading, 480 in math, and 520 in writing. Should I get a tutor? I heard it helps a lot. I want to get into a top university, and I am going to be a high school freshie next year. How much studying should I do as of now?
High school student preparing to take the SATs in September. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I am a sophomore in high school and I am taking my very first SATs very soon. After I take them my parents want to me take SAT prep courses. However I am not sure if I should just hire a private tutor. Which method do you think is more effective to help me get a better score the next time I take the SATs?
I took the April 14th ACT and scored a 32, a grade good enough to land me in my target schools (upenn, northwestern, washington university in St. Louis). Although I’ve had a tutor for the past few months for the SATs, I’m not sure I can score better than the equivalent of a 32 and taking the SAT + SAT IIs might be superfluous and a general waste of time. At the same time, however, I’m from NYC where literally everyone takes the SATs and it might appear like I’m cutting corners. My college counselor suggested it be a "family decision," leaving me to figure out my own fate.
Should I take and submit the SATs or simply settle with my ACTs?
.
Basically i am taking my SAT’s on octover 10th

Ok, so I took the SATs for the first time back in October without any prior studying or preparation, and I scored a 2070 (800 in math, 640 in Reading, and 630 in Writing.)
My question is: what is the best way for me to raise my Reading score to 700+? (I could also use an increase in my writing too.)
Does anyone know any proven ways?
Thanks to the first answerer* lol
I recently took the SATs in my SAT prep course and got 540 in math, 650 in reading and 670 in writing. I take them one more time in the prep course before I take the actual SATs on May 2nd.
Oops. The question SHOULD read "How much can I expect my SAT scores to go up the next time I take the SATs?" Wrong subject-verb agreement there. =P
Is there an SAT online course that I could take online for free that would help me improve my score on the SATs, other than college board and theprinceton review?
Hi, I live in the UK and am seriously considering going to college in the US. I know I will have to take the SATs and was wondering:
a. How do they compare to A-Levels? I need to take Maths II and a science SAT for the places I’m interested in. How do these compare to AS level sciences and maths? I have looked on the collegeboard website but it is hard to judge from the limited number of questions.
b. What (if any) study guides people would recommend? — for the reasoning SAT as well as the subject tests.
I would really appreciate answers from people in the UK who have taken the SATs particularly Maths II, Physics or chemistry and studied these saubjects at A-level. But any opinions from people who’ve taken the tests would be great. Thanks =)
I want to take the SAT in the spring and want to get 3 or 4 books to study. I know for sure I’m getting the "Official SAT Study Guide" and I’m going to need the "Hot Words for the SAT" so I need opinions for which other book I should get. My GPA isn’t so strong so I need good SAT scores. Here’s my list:
-Official SAT Study Guide
-Hot Words for the SAT
-Cracking the SAT, by Princeton Review
-Barron’s SAT 2400:Aiming for the Perfect Score
-Barron’s Critical Reading Workbook for the SATs
-Cracking the SAT Math 1 & 2 Subject Tests
Anyone who’s taken the SAT, which book was most useful? and is it necessary to get SAT Subject Test books to study?
I’m a Junior and I haven’t taken the SATs yet. I’m taking them on June 7th which gives me 4 weeks to practice. I got a 186 on the PSATs without any studying so can anyone tell me how I can increase my projected score within the 4 weeks. And with moderate to intense studying - by how much can I increase my score?
btw I’m looking for a daily routine/schedule. Basically a SAT bootcamp haha.
ok so im a junior takin sats in december and i signed up for 20 hours of private tutoring with kaplan. the reason is im smart (not to be conceited) but its really hard for me to be diligent in my room and actually study on my own. so im wondering if these 20 hours will actually help improve my score. thanks alot
I took an SAT on Sparknotes and my score is 1560 without the essay..i am very sure that i will do poorly on the essay. so if i take, let’s say 10 SATs, one after another, will i somehow get better at the SAT?or will the same score (around the same score) keep on popping up?
i wannannnnnannaa do well on it! But it’s hard!!!!
i already took the SATs and was content with CR (620) and Math scores (640), but my writing score was awful (500). I really would like a tutor this summer to boost that score at least 100 points, but my dream is for all of my scores to be 650+.
Does anyone know of any excellent tutors that are in or around NJ?
Im a junior and im taking an SAT course at KAPLAN to help prepare me for the SATS in a month and a half. So far I feel its been pretty effective but id like to know what you’ve heard….
help is greatly appreciated!
WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD//EXPERIENCED WITH KAPLAN?
I usually am an 85-90 gpa student and when i take major tests i end up getting 70-75’s. I bombed my psat’s. Is there any help for me to concentrate better on tests or any advice out there??
