i am in 9th grade and i want to know what i can do for SAT preparation?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
Should i read any books (if so, what) or take any PSAT somewhere or do online courses or what. Name what to do
Should I invest in an SAT Prep Course or not?!?
Well, I’ve browsed through just about half of the search results for "SAT prep course" on yahoo answers, but I still can’t find the answer for the question I had.
A little background on me: I’m a busy HS Junior, i made 176 on the PSAT last year, (lowest was Crit Reading (54), highest was Math (66))… I think I did substantially better on this year’s, but I don’t know yet. I bought a PSAT book from Kaplan for the PSAT and went over the CR section and writing so-so. I had the book for a while, but I didn’t really use it until a week before the exam
…. I did the three practice tests and got 200+ on all of them. (highest was 212, lowest was 201)
Anyway! My question is:
Should I take the Kaplan SAT course (Princeton Review isnt offered in my area)?? Does anyone think it could help someone like me? Does it raise scores substantially? Or would I do better just buying a book? (Remember, I am a student who is busy and has little time, and is not very self-starter-y and probably wouldnt use the book as much as I should and would probably cram 1-2 weeks before the test)
I dont want to have to spend 00 on something targeted to students who really have it worse than I do, because i want to break 2100+ on the SAT… So yeah…
Best PSAT and SAT test prep?
My high school invited me and about 20 other students to retake the PSAT as a junior in hopes of qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship. The school offered counseling and encouragement, but no help with test review.
Which prep course is preferred? Princeton Review or Kaplan or other? Would I benefit from a class review (about 0) or online review or would a good PSAT review book be sufficient? Also, I’ll have the most time to prep during the summer versus early next fall due to heavy AP course load next year, but I wonder if I’ll score higher if I study closer to the time of the exam. Are the classes worth 0?
I’ll also be taking the SAT the same year. Any hints about how best to prepare for both? Thanks.
Sophomore PSAT score 187; class rank top 7% soph year (with AP courses).
Should I take a SAT course or not?
I recently took the PSAT and didn’t get top-tier results but mostly average. I have heard that just because someone gets a high SAT score doesn’t mean they’re smart nor does it mean that they will get into a college of their choice for sure. So should I take a SAT course to improve the areas which I am weak in and get better at test-taking OR should I just buy an SAT book and do the work independently? Answers with explanations help! Thanks in advance!
Does the Psat/Sat prep course for testmasters really work?
My mom just signed me up for the PSAT and SAT prep course from testmasters. It is roughly 0 and I was wondering if anyone has done it and that can give me their personal experience. Hopefully I can know now so I can still cancel it. Help would be appreciated!
What is the best SAT preparation class available in Houston, TX?
I did poorly on the PSAT and realize that I need to get a better score on the SAT to make up and even have a chance of getting into a good college. Can someone give me a recommendation for a good prep class that is well known for increasing scores the most?
ex. Testmasters, Princeton Review, Kaplan, Sylvan, etc.
Thanks in advance!
How can I get motivated to practice for the SAT?
I am taking the SAT exam in March, and I’m not extremely motivated or self-disciplined enough to practice with the practice exams, questions, drills, etc. According to my PSAT score, my SAT score should be around 1700-1800. What can I do to help motivate myself to practice (or have someone force me to practice)? What are some methods that have helped you in the past to study yourself for the SAT?
How much harder are the questions on other tests, such as the SAT versus the GED?
I am just wondering if the GED is equivalent to other tests like the PSAT, SAT or ACT or if the questions on the GED are way easier than the others.
Also, as far as I can tell, taking the placement testing at a community college sounds like it will be easier than the GED. Is this true? What is the placement testing called anyway… is it something I mentioned above & I just didn’t know it, lol?
What would be the best psat/sat study guide book?
I’m just curious to know. I have been looking through different ones and I feel that the college board study guide is the most sufficient because they create the test, but I want some analysis from past psat/sat takers and see what helped them get their highest scores.
What are some excellent College/SAT PREP courses?
I am in my sophomore (10th grade) year in high school and I think it’s about time I took a SAT Prep class. I am planning on taking my PSAT the end of this year, but maybe I’ll take the PREP class next summer for more time. I live in California btw.
Do you have any recommendations for SAT Prep classes for getting into exceptional universities? I’ve heard of the Princeton Review and Catalyst but I’m not sure which ones are effective. Help please =(
What, in simple terms, is the difference between the ACT test and the SAT test. Why choose one over the other?
I have a student at the sophomore high school level and college prep choices are looming. There is the PSAT (which I assume is the pre-SAT test). But I don’t understand the difference between the SAT test and the ACT test, and which colleges want which one.
