PostHeaderIcon Do I have to take course from specific companies in order to score well on the SAT?

Browse the site to learn more about psat prep course, gmat prep exam, act preparation classes, college board sats and more

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

IF not, can people give me some tips on how I can study independantly and effectively? Thanks, it would be greatly appreciated. And ways to stay motivated, would be nice. Cause I lose track when working by myself, often,

And don’t mention anything baout getting help from my school- cause they’re planning to make us pay for the classes (I go to a stinkin private school; and it’s not even worth it); and I don’t plan to go to them.
companies, as in Kaplan/ princeton review, etc…
Any more answers? cause i will still consider them for best answer.

PostHeaderIcon SAT preparation?

I want to take the SAT in the spring and want to get 3 or 4 books to study. I know for sure I’m getting the "Official SAT Study Guide" and I’m going to need the "Hot Words for the SAT" so I need opinions for which other book I should get. My GPA isn’t so strong so I need good SAT scores. Here’s my list:

-Official SAT Study Guide
-Hot Words for the SAT
-Cracking the SAT, by Princeton Review
-Barron’s SAT 2400:Aiming for the Perfect Score
-Barron’s Critical Reading Workbook for the SATs
-Cracking the SAT Math 1 & 2 Subject Tests

Anyone who’s taken the SAT, which book was most useful? and is it necessary to get SAT Subject Test books to study?

PostHeaderIcon SAT Preparation?

What SAT prep books do you recommend? Princeton Review, Barron’s, Peterson’s or Kaplan? (or any other book you find effective) I’m planning on buying some books aside from the ones by Collegeboard and I can’t narrow down my list.

Also, it’ll be my first time to take the SAT and I’m not sure if I’ll actually do well on the June testing considering the fact that I’ve only started studying formally this May (due to a lot of set-backs involving my parents).

I’m an incoming senior this June (we have a different academic calendar) and was wondering if it would be wise to schedule my test on October instead and schedule my subject tests on November.

I know the application deadline is on January and I’ll have to leave time for mail delivery. And I also need to know if my scores are good enough before I send in my applications (I’ll know probably mid-month, right?) or decide if I need to retake any. If they’re good enough, I plan to take other subject tests. Will I have enough time?

PostHeaderIcon For test prep, is Kaplan or Princeton Review better?

I have to sign up for ACT, PSAT, and SAT test prep pretty soon. I’m leaning towards Kaplan but a lot of people recommend Princeton Review. The price doesn’t really matter and both classroom courses are around the same area (,000-,000). If there is anyone out there has used kaplan or princeton prep courses review for anything at all, pleeeeaaase help! I really don’t know which one to choose…open to any suggestions.
forgot to check my grammar before I posted…sorry.

PostHeaderIcon SAT Subject Tests – Math 2 and Biology – Which Test Prep Book?

I’ve taken Biology E and Mathematics Level 2, but I only scored 690 and 750, respectively.

I’m aiming for an 800, so which test prep book would you recommend? (Barron’s, Kaplan, Princeton Review, etc)

I’m going to take the test in about a month, so I’m not sure how much I can prepare for two tests.

(Also, would you recommend Biology E or Biology M?)

PostHeaderIcon Which SAT Study Guide should I get?

I was wondering if I should buy the Princeton Review Book or the College Board book. I’ve heard the pro’s and cons of both but I don’t know which one would be better.

PostHeaderIcon Kaplan vs. Princeton Review SAT Prep Course?

I’m taking the SAT in may 2008. I want to increase my grade by 200 points. Which is better? Kaplan or Princeton Review? Thanks.

PostHeaderIcon Preparation for SAT Math Level 2?

High there – I asked a question about SAT subject tests yesterday.

I have decided that I am going to take the SAT Subject Test for math level 2. I would like to know if anyone could recommend a text with which they have had success for preparing for this test. I have a Princeton Review book for Math Level 1 and 2, but I was thinking of something specifically geared for Level 2 that I could do to become more comfortable with those problems.

Thanks!
What about Kaplan or a company like that??

PostHeaderIcon Should I take an expensive $1800 test prep for SAT? ?

Hi, Right now I’m going to go into senior year and my sat scores are sadly 1550 really average. I don’t plan on going to Ivys nor top schools. However I do want to make in a good reputable school in NY, where I am located. Right now, I’m contemplating whether I should take an expensive test prep called Testtakers 00 bucks! I don’t know if its worth it but i have heard alot of great results from classmates but I really don’t know if it is worth it!

Should I take an 00 course or will I regret not making that decision in my life? Deadline is really near. I just found out that it was 00 not the 50 that it use to be.

I do not want to try other programs because I know they suck. Kaplan and Princeton Review around my area isn’t good at all. I took Kaplan and it sucked like hell.

PostHeaderIcon I Bought and PSAT And SAT Classroom Course From Princeton Review. Are They Good? What should I do next?

I am going to be a Junior in September, which means i will be taking my PSAT’s again. As a sophmore, i got a 65 on CR, a 57 on Math and a 52 Writing. My hope is that my PSAT Princeton Review Course will help pick those up at least into 200+, (Just under 30 points more than i got last year.) Has anyone ever taken a Princeton Review Course? If so, what was your experience, in terms of grades? What else can i do in addition to the PSAT course?

Oh yeah, i also purchased an SAT Course that begins 01/16/10 and i will take the SAT in March ’10. Once again, what was your experience taking an PR SAT course, in terms of grades? Did they really help?
Please be honest and i’m looking foward to your answers =]
Any other tips/advice/etc will be greatly appreciated

PostHeaderIcon TutorFox Guide for the SAT sounds fake?

i don’t think it is real and i think it is better to study by yourself. it sounds plausible, and it looks real..but how come i never heard about it before? and Titanica (one of the people who claims it helped him) is pasting the same paragraph in every question about TutorFox or SAT preparation information. And i don’t trust him. YOU should buy a Princeton Review, i bet they sell it in many bookshops in the States. It has fabulous tricks and short-cuts to getting the right answer. i just began today, i’m 11th grader btw. I know i started pretty late, oh well..and i really suck at math – but i am just trying to inspire the people who are starting to study for the SAT and are worrying. i even took a mini-SAT on Sparknotes and got %47. really bad… but anyway, good luck! Sorry, this wasn’t really a question..but let’s see if Titanica shows up on my question and pastes the same paragraph..

PostHeaderIcon (please answer!)Are the Princeton Review SAT practice test generally harder than the Sat and other prep books?

Are the Princeton Review SAT practice test generally harder than the Sat and other prep books?
I took the Barron’s 2400 practice test and I got a score in the range of 1450-1520. I got a 1580 on the PSAT. I took the PR sat practice test and I got a 1210!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… I’m so annoyed. Now I really dont know where I stand in terms of SAT performance.

PostHeaderIcon Should I take the TestTakers SAT prep course?

I’m a high school junior and I’m taking the SAT probably in May.
I’ve never done any PSAT or SAT prep course before, but I have taken the PSAT twice. First score was 176, second was 181.

So should I take any SAT prep course at all? TestTakers is doing a program at my school, and it’s slightly over 1k. Has anyone heard of it and can tell me if it’s worth the money? What about the Princeton Review course? How much is that one in comparison to TestTakers?
Thanks in advance. :D

PostHeaderIcon How is the CollegeBoard SAT online course?

I’m on a tight budget and a very busy schedule, so I need an online SAT prep course.

What should I take, the express 8hr course with Princeton Review or the traditional study course with CollegeBoard? Is there any other good services?

Thank you,
Chris

PostHeaderIcon The only one enrolled in SAT prep course..?

So i recently enrolled in an sat prep course (princeton review) ..they sent me an email yesterday saying that i was the only one enrolled in this course and that they’re keeping the course open for a few more weeks hoping that some more students might enroll.
They said i could transfer into another course but i can’t make it on those days..
So do you think they’ll still continue the course just for one student? Would there be any ramifications? Should i pick another course?

PostHeaderIcon Good SAT PREPARATION BOOKS?

I plan on reading 2 SAT Prep books instead of taking SAT prep classes, mainly due to the cheapness of books. Plus, I heard that if you are a motivated self-learner, SAT Prep classes are pretty much the same as the books.

Can you give some recommendations on good SAT Prep books? I am definitely getting the Collegeboard official one for the practice tests. For the other one: Princeton Review, Gruber’s, Kaplan, McGraw-Hill, or any others? Help is appreciated.
