World History AP & SAT subject test / 2/ II?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
Hey I took the World History AP test about mid May and now I am signed up for the World History SAT II. The thing is I just started taking the test on the REA preparation book for SAT II and it is much much much harder and specific then what I encountered on the AP exam. Is the SAT subject test really more specific then the AP test?
Thanks for answering
to first poster, Yeah I know AP classes really are useless, like it doesn’t help only makes it easier to register for classes. But it sort of looks better for colleges along with a GPA boost.
to 2nd poster:……………………………..
to 3rd poster: Yeah like what the heck is the Velvet Revolution I learned nothing that specific and the AP test multiple choice was nothing like that. I didn’t even bother to score my 1st practice test because I did so badly and knew like crud. Hopefully it will be more AP oriented multiple choice.
Is this SAT prep book good?
I was wondering if "Gruber’s complete SAT guide 2009" is a good book for preparation of the SAT’s. I am aiming to get around 2200. I just took a practice test, (about a day after i got it) and got 1910. I have about 8 months till i actually take the real exam.
So is this book a good way to increase my score to that fabled 2200 or should i make a transition to another book.
Thank you
p.s. If any of you got high scores in the SAT, a few pointers would be welcome.
Anyone Taken The SAT (10 Points)?
Is the writing really hard to do well on? At this SAT preparation course students, including my friend and I, took practice tests similar to the SAT, which I know because of taking tests from the blue College Board book and asking another friend who took the SAT and the same course when she was our age, about 2-3 years ago.
My friend got an 800 on writing, and I got a 740, but for some reason when she took the real SAT (I haven’t yet), she only scored a 600. What gives? She was really good at writing and did assignments for 25 minutes in 10 minutes, getting maybe 1 wrong. Also the person who is most likely gonig to be valedictorian at our school only got a 710.
Any tips? In the College Board book I’m scoring in the 700s, getting only maybe 4 wrong with. I think my essays are pretty good. I need a good writing score because math is the easiest for me, probably a pretty easy 770+, but critical reading I’m only getting mid to high 600s. I was counting on the writing, which is easy for me, to get me around 2150-2200, but people aren’t doing good on it. Why?? Advice???
Also, on the PSAT I got a 68 on writing (HOWEVER, only 3 were wrong and none blank; it must have been a bad curve, and after looking at the PSAT I realized one or two of those errors were really stupid mistakes).
I know I need a good score for good colleges. I don’t really need help with writing since I’m getting almost every question right under timed conditions. I just don’t get why such smart people are doing so poorly, including my friend who got an 800 on writing for a practice test similar to the SAT.
Is it worth it to buy the College Board Official SAT Study Guide?
I’ve heard that College Board’s practice tests are "dumbed down" compared to the real thing. On the other hand, college board is the one distributing the tests, so it would seem like their tests would be most accurate. I took a practice test from a college board free guide and it did seem easier, but it’s not like i suddenly got all 800s on it, either.
What should I do? If you took the SAT in march, especially, if you used college board’s study guide, how did it compare to the actual test?
Thanks in advance!!!
thanks guys! specifically, what do you think of this book for the math section? (i suck at the math section)
how can i get more test prep for m SAT subject test?
im taking the biology E subject test in 2 weeks and i just took the practice test in the college board study guide book and i got an ok score. the problem is that i dont remember some of the terms and concepts like mitosis etc. im wondering is there a place i can get reaquainted with stuff that are likely gonna be on the test?

I took the Barron’s 2400 practice test and I got a score in the range of 1450-1520. I got a 1580 on the PSAT. I took the Princeton Review sat practice test and I got a 1210!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… I’m so annoyed.
I found princeton review much harder. Now I really dont know where I stand in terms of SAT performance.
I took a practice SAT and got a 2040 but I want to get like a 2300+. Should I go to a test prep class?
Math-690
Verbal-670
Writing-680
The princeton review is offering a 14 week course for like 0 and I’m wondering if I should take it. It’s about 60 dollars per each 3 hour class. Should I take it or should I just study at home? I didn’t really study much when I took the practice test.

Does anyone in here use the SAT Online Course from collegeboard?
I use it and when I checked my answers on the "question and answer report" it said "H" for estimated difficulty level. Does that mean that all of the questions were set on the "hard" difficulty level?
PS: I entered in my SAT answers and I scored lower on the practice than I did on the real SAT practice test.
How shall I prepare for the SAT?
I’m a soph in highschool who just took the PSATs. I’m waiting for my results now. I hardly prepared, since it’s really just a practice test of a practice test.
I took the practice test at home the night before and that too, only the math part (my weakest subject). I’m not sure if I’m a motivated, studious type. I don’t think I am, unless I’m truly interested in the subject. (History, for example, is something I study for -at least 2 hours- because I adore history. Math I study for -at most 2 hours- because i’m not so fond of operations and logical things. I’m into less predictable things.) I’ve looked at the questions people have asked before about SAT preparation and am disappointed. The answers are SO varying. Princeton Review or Kaplan? Study on your on or in classes/tutoring? Barrons’ books or Collegeboard? Every time i think i know which way is better, based on answers, i find contradiction.
So, based on the information I’ve given you, what do you think is best for me? What kind of Review should I try first? How should I invest in my future?!?!
Is it possible to raise a 1470 SAT score to an 1800 without any tutoring or prep courses?
I am really aiming for an 1800 on my second SAT. The first time I took the SAT I was tired and I was kind of sick so I made the following scores
Math: 450
Reading: 460
Writing: 560
Now the last practice test I took my scores were (I took a timed practice test)
Math: 530 (after averaging out the range in the princeton review book)
Reading: 620 (after averaging out the range in the princeton review book)
Writing: 630 (after averaging out the range in the princeton review book)
I had a neighbor of mines, who used to grade essays for collegeboard, grade my essay and I received a score of 5.
I want to get my math up in the 600s range. Is it possible for me to do this good on the REAL SAT ON OCTOBER 10th. I am really aiming for a 1900 though. I am a senior in high school. I studied 2 hours every day during the summer for the SAT. School started for me 4 weeks ago and even since then I have been studying for the SAT. Could it happen?
I have taken about 10 practice tests ever since May (the 1st week of summer). I plan on taking 2 more.
Any tips?
I own these books.
Sat math 800
Kaplan SAT Math workbook
Collegeboard official SAT Study guide
Princeton review cracking the SAT
and Princetion review 11 SAT practice tests
I do better on the collegeboard practice SAT tests though, I get more questions correct on all of the sections I get about 40 to 50 points higher on the total. So I usually make 1800s on the collegeboard SAT practice tests.
I’m taking the SAT in january and wondering which SAT prep is better?
I went to Huntington and took their practice test and got a 1520 without studying or anything. i know its bad. but i was wondering which one is better Huntington Learning Center SAT private tutors or Revolution Prep classes?

2008-2009 SAT Preparation Booklet?
Does anyone have the answers to the practice test in the 2008-2009 SAT Preparation Booklet?

Thanks!
What is a good test prep book for the SAT Subject Test in Modern Hebrew?
An actual test prep book, not just the big book published by College Board that only has 1 practice test in each subject, with no review or stuff like that.
SAT Biology Prep Book compares with the real test on SAT?
I’ve just bought a Princeton review prep book for the SAT Biology. But, I don’t know whether the level of difficulty that I will face on the real SAT test would be about the same as my Princeton SAT prep book practice test. Can anybody tell me? Thanks a lot!

College Board Bio SAT Subject Practice Test?
Is the College Board provided practice test for the Bio SAT really real tests? I found that on their practice test, I scored much higher than on the practice tests of Barron, Kaplan, Sparknotes
Sparknotes Practice SAT II Tests: easier than, harder than, or equal to the actual exam?
Okay. I just took a practice test for the Biology SAT II (which I’ve been studying for a lot) and received a 760/800 (which I would love to get on the actual test).
Does anyone have experience with the difficulty of Sparknotes practice tests? I am just curious to see whether or not I can pull off this score on the actual exam.
I also have the officials tests, but I have yet to take those.
I’m taking a Princeton Review Practice SAT Test…
What’s the best way to prepare? It’s only a practice test and I’m fourteen, but I want to be ready for it. I’ve already taken the real SAT for John’s Hopkins CTY and I didn’t do that great. (Not like I really tried.) I actually want to see if I can get a good score, like 600 on each section. And please don’t say stuff like do practice tests in the SAT test books blah blah. I’ve done that before. Okay thanks ![]()
