SAT preparations help?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
This was the email sent to me………..
Dear Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search Applicant:
We wish you the very best of luck as you take the SAT in two weeks on Saturday, January 23. On the morning of the test, remember to take the following:
1.Your SAT admission ticket. If you do not have your admission ticket, contact the College Board at 1-866-756-7346 or visit www.collegeboard.com/mysat (enrollee must be 13 to create an account.)
2.Your Duke TIP ID form (the pink 1/2 sheet that came with your test practice booklet. Access a replacement ID form here (.pdf).
3.Two sharpened number 2 pencils.
4.An approved calculator (review SAT’s calculator policy).
5.A snack and drink for breaks to be stored out of sight in your backpack or paper bag.
I have everything except for that admission ticket. Where do you get the ticket. I’ve only realized today that I don’t have the ticket. If anyone can help, please do.
What books/study guides should I get for the SAT?
I didn’t do so hot on my P-SAT.. 1530.. and I’m wanting to bring it up like by at least 200 or 300 points
I am thinking about getting
‘ The Official SAT Study Guide’ by college board
as well as ‘Hot Words for the SAT’
are there any other books i need to get?
such as those that focus entirely on critical reading or math?
if so what ones would you recommend?
Anyone Taken The SAT (10 Points)?
Is the writing really hard to do well on? At this SAT preparation course students, including my friend and I, took practice tests similar to the SAT, which I know because of taking tests from the blue College Board book and asking another friend who took the SAT and the same course when she was our age, about 2-3 years ago.
My friend got an 800 on writing, and I got a 740, but for some reason when she took the real SAT (I haven’t yet), she only scored a 600. What gives? She was really good at writing and did assignments for 25 minutes in 10 minutes, getting maybe 1 wrong. Also the person who is most likely gonig to be valedictorian at our school only got a 710.
Any tips? In the College Board book I’m scoring in the 700s, getting only maybe 4 wrong with. I think my essays are pretty good. I need a good writing score because math is the easiest for me, probably a pretty easy 770+, but critical reading I’m only getting mid to high 600s. I was counting on the writing, which is easy for me, to get me around 2150-2200, but people aren’t doing good on it. Why?? Advice???
Also, on the PSAT I got a 68 on writing (HOWEVER, only 3 were wrong and none blank; it must have been a bad curve, and after looking at the PSAT I realized one or two of those errors were really stupid mistakes).
I know I need a good score for good colleges. I don’t really need help with writing since I’m getting almost every question right under timed conditions. I just don’t get why such smart people are doing so poorly, including my friend who got an 800 on writing for a practice test similar to the SAT.
What is the best guide for SAT?
i’m taking SAT 1 exam in jan, and i was wondering what is a really very good book for that, is the official guide from college board the best??
Is it worth it to buy the College Board Official SAT Study Guide?
I’ve heard that College Board’s practice tests are "dumbed down" compared to the real thing. On the other hand, college board is the one distributing the tests, so it would seem like their tests would be most accurate. I took a practice test from a college board free guide and it did seem easier, but it’s not like i suddenly got all 800s on it, either.
What should I do? If you took the SAT in march, especially, if you used college board’s study guide, how did it compare to the actual test?
Thanks in advance!!!
thanks guys! specifically, what do you think of this book for the math section? (i suck at the math section)
Help with raising SAT math score?
I recently got back the scores for my first SAT:
Reading: 770
Writing: 680
Math: 560
I’m happy with all except math, which isn’t really good enough for the schools I’m considering. I’m not a bad math student (straight A’s), but English is more my strength and the hard math problems on the test were a little overwhelming, especially due to the time constraints. I took about 10 practice tests from Princeton Review and College Board and I had an SAT tutor as well, which was helpful. Besides those things, what else should I do to raise my math score? 100 points would be ideal, but I don’t know if that’s realistic before the next SAT. Also, I don’t want to jeopardize my reading and writing scores by taking the general again unless I have to because I don’t want them to be any lower. Would a higher score on an SAT II math level test suffice, or do I need to retake the reasoning test?
What books/other references should I buy to prepare myself for the SAT?
I decided not to go to SAT prep courses because I think I would learn more by studying straight from books myself. So I was wondering which books should I buy to study for the SAT? Should I buy from Kaplan, Princeton Review, College Board, or some other brand? If so, which specific books should I buy? Also, to study on the vocabulary, how should I study on them, using flash cards and where do I exactly buy them? Other things about studying for the SAT would be helpful too.
I bought SAT online course I payed for it and I still can’t acctivate. Please help me I payed too much!?
I payed for that course in the college board and I still cant get into the course..I’m so angry because I don’t have much time to prepare and because I spend like 70$ and something is wrong! Please help me..do anyone have experience with this course..should I wait for couple of days to acctivate? Thanks!
Which SAT online course is the best to raise scores?
I know that Kaplan’s, Princeton, and College Board all have online SAT courses, but which one would you guys recommend? The cost of the class does not matter, so don’t worry about that. Just which one would help me raise my grade the highest?

Does anyone know which book is better..either "The Princeton Review’s: Cracking the SAT, 2009 edition" or "College Board’s: Official SAT study Guide" I just need a book that will help me do better on the SAT. SAT and ACT prep books ?
i bought the official college board sat preparation book, im wondering if its necessary to buy other editions ?
if so, would you recommend editions such as the Princeton Review or Kaplan for SAT ? and why ?
what about for the ACT?
also, the new sat book is coming out in july i heard…but would buying the edition out right now be useful ?
Old SAT study guide vs. new SAT study guide…?
Okay, I purchased an SAT study guide entitled "10 Real SATs", which was written by the College Board company, online on Amazon for only {content}.43 to prepare for the SAT. I thought it was just my lucky day for it to be so cheap, but when I got it today I realized that it MIGHT be for the old SAT, and my fear was confirmed when I saw that the publication year was 2003. I figured, though, that they must cover pretty similar material, so if I just do the questions in this book I could still be prepared.
So my question is, could I be able to study for the current SAT with this study guide? What kind of material should I also study that’s not in the book? If I prepare for the essay question along with this book, could I still be good to go to take the new SAT?
Thank you!
Which SAT study Guide is better?Classes..?
I have the old Official College board study guide but i just found out a second edition just came out. Should i get the new one?is it worth it? I have also heard about the Princeton Review study guide and Kaplan study guide. Which one is better?
I’m not sure if i should take SAT classes. I know they are helpful but they are expensive. I was thinking about the Kaplan SAT Classroom…
Should i just study with the books or try and go to a class? Thank You for your advise.
SAT study guide? New one evert tear or what?
I’m talking about The Official SAT Study Guide by The College Board
http://www.amazon.com/official-sat-study…
I’m taking the SAT next year as a junior and right now im about to take the PSAT in 2 weeks, should I buy this book? or will they publish a new one soon?
What is the best prep book for the SAT Math II Subject Test?
What do u think is the most helpful besides the official book by college board?
Is there an SAT online course…?
Is there an SAT online course that I could take online for free that would help me improve my score on the SATs, other than college board and theprinceton review?
The College Board or REA study guide for bio SAT?
I took practice tests both from the College Board subject review and REA’s subject review… and my scores have a huge discrepancy, scoring 790 in the CB and in the mid-600s in REA’s. REA’s questions are much more difficult than the CB study guide, but I wasn’t sure how realistic my CB scores are compared to REA’s. Does anyone know if it’s okay to feel that I’m prepared enough, assuming my CB score is the more accurate estimate of my score?
Whats the best SAT book to get for 2009?
I was going to get "Cracking the SAT" or "college board Official SAT guide" but i heard from people that they are both incomplete and have many errors. They also have low ratings on Barnes & Nobles. Any other suggestions?
Can you have your ACT and SAT scores sent directly to you, THEN decide if you want to send them to colleges?
Also, will the college board SAT course prepare me for the ACT too?
Also, What’s the difference in the two tests? Should your mind-set be different during each separate test, or what?
Which SAT Study Guide should I get?
I was wondering if I should buy the Princeton Review Book or the College Board book. I’ve heard the pro’s and cons of both but I don’t know which one would be better.
which SAT study guide do you recommend?
i heard both good and bad things about the college board sat book and mcgraw-hill sat book. which is better?
and if you know one better, please tell me.
does the Paradise Guide for the SAT actually work?
did anyone try it? and what is it like? is it something like Princeton Review or College Board SAT Prep Book? What scores did you get after this book? and why is it so expensive?
What SAT Reasoning Test Prep book should I get?
I am wondering what test prep book I should get for SAT I. I know College Board has its own book for SAT I, but it seems a bit outdated, if that matters or not. There are many others out there, so there is a wide range to choose from.
Also, I may need to work on my SAT I Vocabulary. It would be great to get a book that includes all parts in detail so that I don’t have to "juggle" between different guides, but I will not mind if necessary.
What’s the ISBN number for the SAT Lesson Book (Kaplan)?
Nevermind. I found the ISBN number.
One aspect that bugs me is that if I use CollegeBoard’s book, I am afraid that the guide will be biased as CollegeBoard is the one who administers the paid tests, disadvantaging the student? Are my fears ridiculous?
