Should I take a SAT prep course?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
On my psat, I got 620, 700, and 510
on reading, math, and writing respectively. I am considering a prep course, maybe kaplan or princeton. But I also have the books from a kid who took the kaplan course last year.
Is it possible to raise my score to at least 2100 through self-studying or should I take a prep course?
Thanks in advance
1) test prep works
2) you may do as well yourself in preparing for the test if you have the discipline – read books with hard vocab and read and work through every math book you ever had.
3) You probably won’t gain that much. The standard error of measurement is about 35 points so without anything you will probably (68% chance) score within 35 points of your current scores. With prep you may gain 50 points on each.
4) unless you are applying to the most selective campuses (Harvard, Yale, Amherst, etc) those scores are quite nice and will probably get you a scholarship at most state schools and some selective private schools.
