Should I submit my SAT scores/ACT scores to Holy Cross?
After finding out how Holy Cross doesn’t require any standardized tests, I am ecstatic, especially the fact that it doesn’t put me at a disadvantage.
My SAT scores are as follows:
SAT Reasoning Test
1250/1920
SAT IIs:
Chemistry: 720
US History: 750
Math Level 1: 700
Math Level 2: 580, 620, 670
ACT: 30
I took the SAT once without preparation to see if it’s the test for me. Apparently, by my scores, it is not, therefore I opted for the ACT, which is a decent score. However, I’m really persistent on showing Holy Cross my SAT II scores. But I would have to send the SAT scores all at once, meaning they see my crappy reasoning test. So then I would have to submit my decent ACT score.
All in all, would this hurt me? I feel these standardized tests do not put me in a good light, because my school load and corresponding grades are much more impressive, considering how I always took honors and AP courses, giving me a 96.5 weighted GPA and a 94.2 GPA.

On a side note, should I give only 1 great teacher recommendation, or add another one? One social studies teacher I’ve known for 4 years and had in freshman year and now for AP Euro, wrote me a phenomenal letter. I feel it is sufficient. However, I also have another teacher in mind that I had for 2 years in a row for Honors Chemistry and then for AP Chemistry in my sophomore and junior year. Although I wasn’t the best student in the class, I actively participated, went to extra helps all the time, the teacher loves me, and he pushed me to my limits.
Here’s the thing, I can’t send individual SAT scores. It’s the whole thing, with the good and bad.
Also, I thought that the colleges will disregard the lower scores of my Math Level 2, because I have improved it over time.
I CAN’T SEND MY SAT II SCORES BY THEMSELVES!
The deadline for the interview was December 31st for an on campus one, and December 1st for an off campus alumni one. I didn’t do either….
Am I hurt by that and the fact that I didn’t visit? The interview is highly recommended, but I blew my chances apparently.
However, Holy Cross is sort of my within reach school, not necessarily a safety, but not a total reach.

I agree with JackieB. Feel free to send in all of your scores. They aren’t bad and the SAT IIs are impressive. Be prepared to work hard at Holy Cross. They have legendary academic standards, ranked among the highest in the nation academically by the Princeton Review at 98 and also high on the list of "where students study the most". They are famous for their premed program.
Umm… I would submit the ACT because it is a great score that may end up helping you in the long run. SAT II’s are really good, esp US and Chem…. maybe don’t submit Math Level II’s. Nice GPA weighted and unweighted (haha like the same as mine now). And add the chem one because it sounds great =)
Since it doesn’t require test scores then I wouldn’t bother sending them there. Your SAT IIs are very good so I would deffinately send those. It shouldn’t hurt you if you don’t send your test scores since your grades are very good. I would get 2 recommendations. It seems that your chemistry teacher knows you well and a good recommendation would never hurt. hope this helps. Good luck!
Holy Cross is an awesome school! Great college spirit and wonderful professors. Princeton Review gives it a 98 for academics compared to only 88 for BC. Definitely send in the ACT and don’t bother with the SATs. You have a very strong academic record. You will get in!!! Especially with the strong teacher recommendation.
One absolutely key thing though is to do an interview and take an offical tour. They want to know that you are serious about attending and this is one concrete way to show HC is not your safety school. By voting with your feet! Be sure to get on campus and do the interview/tour!!!!
Actually your SATs are well within their acceptable range and your SAT IIs are quite good so it won’t hurt at all to send them in. You have a great GPA. You will get into Holy Cross no problem! It is a fabulous small college with a beautiful campus on a hill overlooking the city.
Your SAT scores are not bad. You will get into Holy Cross either way. I would send. You are a strong candidate. Great school.
I vote submit. Your SATs are nothing to be embarrassed about. The valedictorian of my high school had SATs similar to yours and went to Holy Cross and I am quite sure she sent her scores in.
Send them. It is one of the top schools academically in the Boston metro area and even in the nation.
Send those suckers!! I wish I had the grades for Holy Cross. I love that campus!!!
