Many bright kids bomb the PSAT and the SAT. Why? Because the test isn’t designed like the tests you are used to in high school. The focus is on reasoning skills – and trust me, they try to trick you.

Pick up a few of the Barron’s books for the SAT and The Official SAT Study Guide. These books will clue you in to the tricks and tips you need in order to ace it.

The Official SAT Study Guide has 8 practice tests – so you can make all kinds of mistakes in the privacy of your own home until you feel confident – and I think that might be part of your problem – you put too much pressure on yourself.

If you study the methods in those books, you’ll increase your confidence because you’ll have the inside scoop.

Tell yourself that it’s okay if you bomb at first. Every time you take the test in the book, note your improvement. Pat yourself on the back. Constuctively build yourself up (as opposed to tearing yourself down.)

Bright kids are often mystified when they bomb the SAT – it’s most likely because they think their performance in school will carry over to the test – and it doesn’t.

    Good luck!

Don’t even bother with the SAT. Just go into a community college for the first two years of higher education. You can save some money and if you do well you can get into just about any school. NO SAT REQUIRED!

I think that you should get some SAT books at your library or you can buy one and look over it and look at and practice questions and make sure that you can understand them or go to http://www.collegeboard.com and make sure that you sign up for SAT Question For The Day, create an account, or practice the SAT Question For The Day!

The best way to prepare for the SAT is with a guide or book. From my experience, the best preparation books were princeton review guide, and the tutorfox new sat guide. Used together, I increased my SAT score by about 200 points. Good luck, and please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Pual.
