Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Hi, I live in the UK and am seriously considering going to college in the US. I know I will have to take the SATs and was wondering:
a. How do they compare to A-Levels? I need to take Maths II and a science SAT for the places I’m interested in. How do these compare to AS level sciences and maths? I have looked on the collegeboard website but it is hard to judge from the limited number of questions.
b. What (if any) study guides people would recommend? — for the reasoning SAT as well as the subject tests.

I would really appreciate answers from people in the UK who have taken the SATs particularly Maths II, Physics or chemistry and studied these saubjects at A-level. But any opinions from people who’ve taken the tests would be great. Thanks =)

Hi, I’m from the UK as well, and I did the SAT last May.

In response to your first question, the SATs are nothing compared to A-levels, so don’t get stressed out. SATs are relatively easy, multiple choice type tests, and they do not have the same rigorous syllabi that the A-levels do. The maths and science questions are very easy. Just get the official SAT practice tests, as well as practice tests from a well respected private company such as Princeton Review. I did only 2 practice tests for MathII and Physics and got 800 for both.

For the reasoning test, just do as many practice papers as you can. The reasoning test is not based on any syllabus, it’s just general literacy and numeracy. The 8 official practice tests are essential preparation. SAT tests written by private companies often have a very different format to the official Collegeboard tests, thus they give you a less reliable indication of how you’re going. Can I suggest getting the online SAT course for $60 — the extra practice from the official source is definately worth it, trust me. Don’t waste time reading study guides -they’re all scams and they won’t help you. Doing practice tests is the only thing that will help you.

All in all, don’t get over stressed about the SAT like many Americans do. It’s just a silly test that could be done by 13-year olds. As for me, I did the reasoning test twice: The first time around I got 2150, and the second time around I got 2290 (M: 800, CR:740, W:750).
