Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Here’s the problem: I am a junior this year and my sophomore PSAT scores were about 177 or equivalent to a 1770 on the SAT. I’ve never taken an actual SAT test. However, my dad wants me to take an SAT prep class from the Princeton Review and it costs 9 and requires Sat/Sun time (4 hours for each class!).

Is this worth it for me to spend this much money and this much time on this type of class?
Would it be more effective if I took the SAT class first or should I take it after I try the SAT?

And no, I’m more worried about the four hour time than the money.

I think it depends on what your ambitions are. The 1770 PSAT score is a pretty good indicator of what you will get on your SAT. That score could get you into decent colleges. As an example, 75% percent of the people who got into Stanford got 760 on reading, 790 on Math, and 760 on writing. That’s a total of 2310. For an average college like Penn State, most applicants got a 1180-1340 on their SATs.

Are YOU playing for this class or are your parents? If they expect you to pay, than don’t do it.

I took an SAT prep class. It helps. You get really used to the type of questions that are on the real test.

Whatever it is that you end up doing, GOOD LUCK!

i am in 7th grade and i am taking the SAT this year in Jan. its because of a talent program called DUKE TIP. they say in the handout that (well at least for us, 7th graders) they prefer that we dont take classes.

    good luck!
