Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
Hello,
So, i was wondering how far in advance one should start tutoring sessions for the SAT and the ACT? I have a woman who I am going to start weekly sessions with but she wants me to tell her when to start.
I will be taking it in the spring, as with most juniors…
thanks!
I’m a tutor, and it really just depends on how much help you need. What I would definitely recommend is taking a practice test for both the SAT and ACT under timed conditions before your first session with her. That will give you a baseline, and give you an idea of your strengths and weaknesses. Remember you’re going to be doing most of the work outside of your sessions, so you can use your time with her to get specific questions answered. Ten sessions is usually plenty, but since you’re prepping for both tests, that may not be enough. Again, getting a baseline so you’ll both know how much needs to be done is essential. You’ll also want to be doing lots of reading on your own between now and the test (the best CR prep there is), and possibly getting started on vocabulary review.
Make sure you start it so that it ends RIGHT before the SAT so that the material is fresh in your mind.
(I am surprised that she didn’t tell you that.)
