Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
Here is one question from SAT study guide which i could not understand or need some explanation.
Q. The number that results when an integer is multiplied by itself Cannot end in which of the following digits?
A)1
B)4
C)5
D)6
E)8
here we have to choose one right option from above given choices. In my view the option B should not be included or it may have entry like 100 or 121.As its answer choice given is "E" which I could not understand. Please explain me clearly.
Your method here is to find the counter example:
A) 1×1=1; 9×9=81
B) 2×2=4; 8×8=64
C) 5×5=25
D) 6×6=36
E) There is no integer that, when multiplied by itself, results in a number ending in 8. By the time you reached D) you should have deduced that the answer is E.
It is E: 8, because there are integers which have squares that end in all the other digits. 1 x 1 = 1
2 x 2 = 4
5 x 5 = 25
6 x 6 = 36
However, there are no square numbers which end in eight.
the answer is (e)8
