Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Which book should be the best for preparing for Math IIC SAT Subject Test? I was looking through Barron’s and it seems pretty difficult to understand, considering that I only took trig but not pre-cal. I am looking for a book that explains the concept step-by-step instead of cramming everything such as Barron’s. I just dont think that Barrons is the right book for me. I already bought the sparknotes version b/c i thought it covered the material that we only NEEDED to know. What other books are out there? Kaplan? Princeton?

I skimmed both Barrons and Princeton Review. Although Barrons is hard, it shows you what might appear on the test. You should definitely work through the problems in Barrons if you are aiming for a really high score. Even if you get the problems wrong, you will know how to solve them right on the real test.

Princeton Review was a little too easy. I don’t think it adequately covers the hardest 10% of the questions on the actual test, so I don’t think it can help a person to get an excellent score.

Use both if you have the time.

    Best of luck to you.

First, it is no longer called Math IIC, so you should not buy books that help you study for that test. It is called Mathematics Level 2; looking for books under this title should give you more recent problems and reviews.

I generally find Kaplan to be very helpful, but I did not use books to study for the math test. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

the math is basically reminiscent of precalc…. a lot…

I used the Princeton Review Mathematics Levels 1 & 2 book. I strongly don’t recommend it. The book does not separate the Level 1 and Level 2 sections. I mean, it says "Level 2 Only" by some of the topics, but they are not grouped together. If you use the book, use it as a supplement. I would strongly review your notes from pre-calc (if you saved them; i did). My pre-calc class did not cover how to solve limits and do vector addition/subtraction, so I used the princeton review book for that. And there were also questions regarding statistical problems, such as the standard deviation.

SparkNotes is definitely a good way to go. I was completely oblivious to SparkNotes providing SAT Subject Test help, and found it on the website the very next day. I was a little disappointed. It covered all of the topics, which I was a little frustrated that I hadn’t found it sooner.

I got a 740 on the test; I was content with my score.

    Good Luck!
