Is it worth buying a used laptop with a $500 budget?

Hi, i am a high school student and i am in need of a laptop for next year at college. The reason i am asking now is because, black friday is rolling around and i know there are good sales on laptops. My question is can i get a better used laptop for 0 that is say a few months old, vs. a new laptop? I want to be able to watch movies, type reports, need quick connection for power point and things like that. Also for internet.
Any advice would be great. Thanks

499 is too much. I simply cant spend over 0 so 9 plus tax or shipping or whatever is too much. I would really like to keep it around 0 but i will go to 0 for a really nice laptop.

Well yes your right Black Friday will have a LOT of sales however please remember MOST stores will have ONLY a few of thoes SUPER low discounted laptops at each location the other thing IF you cant get one of those MOST others that are on sale require rebates which mean you have to have the cash up front and wait for the rebate ..ALSO check this website they are constantly looking or deals and you will find DELL’s on sell all the time..www.slickdeals.net ..OR and be very careful with this snatch one up on ebay ..OH walmart believe it or not has some good deals on laptops
Used laptops are a lot cheaper, usually. Just make sure you buy from someone you trust, because there are a lot of people trying to unload junk. Also, make sure you buy a reliable brand. Specifically avoid Dell.
no i got a top of the line laptop for 400 dollars at bestbuy, just be on the lookout for there sales its more worth it
You can buy a laptop for 500 on black friday, NEW. I suggest dell because of their good quality and custom options. Also, an apple macbook or macbook pro or imac would be good, but those are not in your budget. if you sign up for certain computer brands emails, then they might send you a coupon so you coudl get and even better laptop in your price range. Check out the OfficeDepot.com for last Sunday’s deals. There are a few good laptops in the price range you are looking for. Also, lookout for good laptop deals @ http://www.techbargains.com or http://www.deals2buy.com.
a inpsiron 1501 cost 499 so that might help.. i have it and its ok for a first laptop
