Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
i’m a good student. i take honors//AP courses so i’m not in a bad starting position. if i study all summer and up to the test using software, the books, and flashcards, etc,.. would i be well prepared to do really well on the PSAT come october, and take and do really well on (2000+) the SAT in winter or spring? or is it best to take a classroom course?
You would probably be better off studying by yourself using SAT prep books. I have noticed in a classroom setting that the SAT course helps only those who didn’t know much of anything about the SAT and would have gotten really low scores without studying.
So spend some time this summer studying (but not the whole summer–that might be a really boring summer) and be prepared for the PSAT in October. Also, I would suggest buying the book Real SATs (which has real SATs tests so that you can practice the test) and maybe the Official Guide to the SAT. Search Amazon to find out what the best prep books are, and then use them.
You might even be able to get a 2000+ on the SAT without even studying. I only studied the week before the PSAT (getting a 2050). Then for the SATs, I studied and reviewed techniques the night before the test (resulting in a 2070 the first time and a 2100 the second time).
I did it. Buy a test book and take practice tests. The more you do, the better you get.
Yes it is and thats how I prepared for the SAT. All you have to do is buy a practice test book. The best one out there is Barrons. It has harder practice questions so the real test seems easier. Just keep doing all the practice tests and read the explanations. A tutor basically does the same thing: Explains how to do problems and gives you problems to practice. It’s the same thing.
I was able to get a 2150 by practicing on my own. If you study most of the summer, you’d definitely do well.
Plus, you’d be saving a lot of money by practicing on your own. Why spend thousands on classroom courses when you only have to spend $20 on a practice book?
practice practice practice.
get used to the type of questions that they ask and what they’re looking for. buy a book and practice on your own.
Of course it is. Some say taking a classroom course is only paying people to tell you to study. I think you’re definitely at a good starting position. No one can best put the information into your head than yourself;) Good luck!
It is possible, you just need a good book/guide to help you study by yourself. When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from guideparadise: http://www.guideparadise.com/index.php?option=com_guides&task=buy&id=10 and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
