If you switch from using a PC all your life to a MAC is it really difficult to get accustomed to?
I need a change! I have used PC (a very reliable company) all my life but I am ready to test new waters. I need a new laptop when I go to college and I am seriously considering buying a Mac. I mostly do wordprocessing, music download, internet surfing (never any gaming) kodak easyshare, itunes/ipod stuff and working with paint shop pro and graphic making programs. Is mac better for these kinds of things? please answer right away I need to make my descision soon.

i did the same switch, and will never go back to a PC again! macs are more for graphics/art things so it would be a good decision and they are a lot more user-friendly, not viruses and no long processes just to download something.
Mac is known to be a bit better with art related work.
I have used PCs all my life so one of the first classes I took in college was a graphics class that used MACs. The only thing that took getting used too was the mouse. Otherwise MACs are great. I have a desktop PC as my main system but I will be getting a Mac laptop.
I just bought a new laptop also, but i went with an HP, but for the things you listed MACs are just what you need. I do alot of video and photo so this was a very hard discision to make. I think a MAC will be right for you and even now when I look back I thhink that a MAC might have been the right disicion.
I don’t think it is too hard to get accustomed to using a Mac. Yes, the interface is a bit different and things are organized differently, but it is still easy to use overall. Keep in mind, though, that if you buy a Mac, you can still run Windows on it via Parallels or Bootcamp. If you buy a mac and find that you really don’t like Mac OSX, you can always install Windows on it and use as a "Windows computer"…hope this helps…
