Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
sive to colleges. I got a 2180 on my first attempt on the SAT and was wondering if Ivy League Schools such as UPENN or Harvard would be more impressed that it came from a poor school as opposed to a Private Rich Kid School, where they are offered SAT classes and all that good stuff. It seems unfair to me that some people can afford SAT tutors and get perfect scores and thus get into these top schools.
I doubt it, but you should mention that in your essay. It might actually if you were at the top of your class!!
nope not at all, HOWEVER outside the SAT score the school would be interested and possibly swayed by fact that you rose to college level from poor school.. they like balance and diversity now so the fewer people in your group applying means more chance for you to be accepted or get $$.. this means all types of whatever "groups" you fall into, type of school, race, religion, sex, income, geographic region, athletic ability or sport, musical talent, handicap, unique experience, organization membership… basically they take all scores above a certain level then look for uniqueness, and can use any number of things including school or score to break any tie
I go to a private school so trust me, they’re all not as perfect as you may think. And is your school that bad? If it helps, there are a lot of people in undeveloped nations that would kill to be in the school your in.
You could mention it in your essay, but I’m not sure if you’d want to make it your main focus though. If anything you can always talk about it in your interview. Tell them about what motivated you to rise above circumstance and do well in school. They might like that kind of thing depending on the person.
And congrats on your great score
Not really. Wheras colleges can see the overall competency of public schools through standardized testing, they have no idea how good a private school is. The unfairness is definitely a good essay topic.
