I got a call today from Quicken Tax about a tax preparation job?
They called. They didn’t even want to do an interview. I have the job, and apparently, I’m going to sit at a desk in a grocery store and do taxes.
Is this legit?

I know the type of job you mean. Do you know about tax? Are they expecting you to pay to do their course first? If so, it might be legit, but if you aren’t prepared for it then you might have a hard time maintaining your credibility when you’re face to face with someone doing their taxes.
These companies make a lot of their money out of getting people to pay to do their expensive unqualified short courses, and offering seasonal work as a carrot on a stick. I was knocked back for the first accounting/tax job I applied for, with H&RBlock, many years ago, after I’d studied accounting at uni… I was "overqualified"… they just wanted me to pay for their course, and of course I didn’t need to.
But if you’re smart and can keep cool, you could wing it… maybe! Just read the fine print about your liability and costs. Good luck
