Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

We have a netgear wireless router mr814vtw which links to a ntl modem and pc. Upstairs we have a fujitsu laptop which has an inbuilt wireless modem. We have connected this via an ethernet cable to the xbox 360. We followed the advice of some web forums in setting ip numbers but the xbox test fails at DNS test. Followed all advice but we are not getting further. Suggestions and advice gratefully received.

Did you configure the Routing and Remote Access service on the laptop? Because, the way you are setting this up is to use the laptop as a router/expensive wireless card. If you could link any instructions that you have followed it would help immensely.

Try setting the Xbox to obtain an IP address automatically. Also, make sure that you have set the computer’s wireless connection to "Allow other Network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection".
This is found by opening "Network Connections" right clicking on your wireless connection and clicking on properties. Select the "Advanced" tab and make sure the ICS box is checked. Then click ok.

This is going to sound strange but If their are yard sales in your area hit them up maybe you would get lucky and find a wirless AP for a bit of nothingthats how I got a lot of stuff for computers cheap.

Of If you have the extra money just go get a Wirless AP or the wirless adpater for the xbox .

The method you are trying to set up your laptop does work I done it my self
