How much does Barron’s help for SAT preparation?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I am trying to figure out which SAT prep book will help me out the most. I’ve asked this question before and different people said that I should try Barron’s, Kaplan, and Princeton Review. I really do not know which one I should choose. I have already tried the collegeboard’s blue book but that did not help me very much. Many people say to go with Barron’s because it "overprepares" you. Can you help me out? If you suggest a prep book, can you please explain why I should choose that one? Thank You!!:)
I’m using Barron’s, Collegeboard’s blue book, and have just borrowed my friend’s Mc-Graw Hill SAT prep book.
Yes, Barron’s does "overprepare" you. The questions are a little harder than the ones found in the blue book and Mc-Graw Hill’s. I love Barron’s; they give good tips, and makes the Collegeboard tests seem easier.
Collegeboard’s book is good, because all the practice tests found in there are the actual tests that appeared in previous SAT tests. Do the tests to get an feel of what the actual SAT is.
Mc-Graw Hill is fair. My advice is to get a Barron’s book. After doing the practice tests there, do those found in the blue book. Your score will improve
.
Also, if you’re aiming for a high score, get the Barron’s SAT 2400. This book provides certain strategies for students who have gone past the basic review, and are aiming for the highest possible score. I went from a 1880 to over a 2000 in a week.
Hope this helps!
My daughter really liked Kaplan’s review book. She found the math explanations alot easier to understand. I really think it’s personal taste. Good luck!
you should take the kaplan SAT course because i know mad people that took it, and scored like around 2000 and more, and plus the course gurentees your money back, if u dont see improvement or receive a high score !!!! take it man
Go with TPR and then Barron’s. Stay away from Kaplan.
