Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I got a 770 in Reading and a 800 in Writing on the SAT, but I got a 630 in Math. Should I be looking at retaking the SATs then, or should I stick with what I have? I’d be looking at universities like Rice University, Emory, etc. Do colleges look at individual scores or the cumulative?

Judging solely by your scores, you seem like a very intelligent person.

SAT is a test that does not really test your English or Math skills-if they did, they would test you on everything else, as well.

SAT is, in reality, simply a reasoning test to test how logical you are. English and Math are the best subjects for this purposes.

You could try the SAT once more to try to boost your math score, but it is already very good. Discreptancy is considered, but universities have so many applicants that the main thing they are looking at is your overall score.

Ivy League universities will take your top mark while most universities average out all of the scores from all of the SATs you have ever done.

    Good luck!

def. retake it 630 is really low for math, thats low for even the UC schools, i got a 760 in math and thats still not amazing for those schools.

You should definitely retake, not because your scores aren’t awesome–(they are!), but because I think that you can do better in the math and schools really do look at each section. If you put a lot of effort into studying I think you can really boost your scores. I don’t know your grades, but judging by your SAT scores, I would assume you do very well in school. Why limit yourself with that one section of the SAT? Rice looks for math to be between a 670 and a 780. While you may or may not get your score to that point, doing worse the second time around will not hurt your. Colleges always look at your top scores, so give I would try again and just see what happens. Good luck!

By the way–I would kill for a 2200!!! Congratulations!!! I’ve only taken the SAT once but I got only got a 2050…680 680 690. I want to pass that 700 mark so badly so I’m studying and taking the test again! You should be really proud of yourself!!!
