Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Hello. I’m currently a freshman and I took the SATs for the first time and got a 1680.
Math: 700
Reading: 500
Writing: 480
I currently have private SAT tutors and use special SAT guide books. How much can I improve by the end of my sophomore year? Any tips? (Aiming for 2000+)

Thats pretty good. You did a lot better than me. I got a 1360 as a sophmore. Well I think you should apply a technique known as delibrete practice. It is a technique in which one pushes his/ herself just beyond the current abilities, over and over. This is how it goes.

1.) You specifiallly identify your strengths and weaknesses. I mean literally measuring your performance.
2.) Then set a goal of acheiving score that are just beyond your range. In your case you aim at 1700.
3.) Do everything in your power to acheive this goal.
4.) After that then you set another goal that is just beyond your level then you do so again and agian until you reach your ultimate goal.

This practice is essentially seting small goals that lead up to your ultimate goal. I cant tell you exactly how much you will improve but resaerch has shown that delibrete practice often leads to expert performance in many fields of expertise.

I don’t know what your private tutors are telling you.. But.

Don’t worry about other prep books.
Stick with CollegeBoard Books and review THOROUGHLY for each question, regardless of right or wrong.
And read a lot in the side.

Combination of these actions will bring your score up. It is inevitable.
