Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I’m taking the SAT Reasoning test this Saturday, and some people are telling me it’s better to skip questions you don’t know rather than guess; other people are telling me to guess rather than skip the question.

I have that question open up right now and if you know the answer, please take time to answer that question as well.

But my question here is, if it IS better to skip questions you don’t know on the SAT Reasoning test, how many questions would you recommend skipping PER SECTION? How many skipped-questions would be considered too much?

Thanks.

For each correct answer you get 1 point
For each unanswered question you don’t lose anything
Each wrong answer you lose 1/4 of a point.

Go thru the test & only answer the questions that you positively know the answer & skip the rest.

Go back thru the test as time allows. If you don’t have a clue on the answer skip it, if one answer stands out as the educated guess answer the question.

Obviously you want to answer correctly as many questions as possible but making wild guesses can hurt your score. Therefore I would say there isn’t a set answer on how many you should skip. I think that would depend on how well you know the material.

    Good Luck!!!

Skip the ones you do not know the answer to…

I think if you can narrow it down to 50/50 and you’re pretty sure about one, then you can guess. Like you can always take it again…

but the ones you have no idea, dont answer them just skip them. thats how most people get such low scores is by guessing and getting the answer wrong.

so i guess it depends on how you feel about the question… sorry i couldnt be of more help.

My SAT prep teacher said if you can eliminate 2 of the choices its best to guess, if not then leave it blank. Im not sure about how many that you should skip in a section though.

this is how it works. for every correct question you get a point. for every skipped question you don’t get any points. for every wrong question you lose 1/4 of a point. so, if you can narrow it down to 2-3 choices, guess. if you can’t, skip. i wouldn’t recommend skipping questions for the sake of skipping questions, that;s just foolish. mathematically, the way i just described to you gives the best results if you are unsure.

Don’t guess unless you can narrow it down to 2 or 3.
If you’re better at math, skip less on math, and same for the English portion. Just focus on doing as much as you can, as opposed to as much as you can’t.

    Good luck!
