Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I got a 760.
I had 770 on the SAT Reasoning test math part.
I can’t find anywhere what scores colleges want on subject tests… so is this decent? Do you know where I could find information about subject test score ranges at different colleges? Thanks!
Anything above 700 on a subject test is fine. These tests are occasionaly used as "tiebreakers" for admitance, but not often. They are more often used as general "placers", however, schools such as Berkley, Cal Poly Pomona, (engineering schools) will look at you SAT II Math scores.
760′s pretty good, most higher standards schools want a 750 or above on the subject tests, it puts you in the 81th percentile, but remember, usually its smarter kids who take math 2 instead of math 1, so the percentages are skewed upwards
I think it depends on which colleges you want to apply to, and if you feel that you could have done better. SAT II scores are just so that colleges can compare your subjects to your grades based on a standard value (due to grade inflation nowadays). People normally say that above a 700 is good, but that’s very subjective.
I got a 750 the first time around on Math II (meaning I missed about 7 or 8 questions). I knew I could have done WAY better given my math level (I was in Math analysis H the first time around), so I retook it recently (as a BC Calc-er) and got an 800.
So, I would just say that if you feel like you could have done better or you want to apply to a high level school (and, of course, you have time this fall), then retake it. If you feel like you did your best or it won’t adversely affect your apps, then don’t retake it. A higher score can only help you.
760 on math level 2 puts you in the top 1/5 of the people who took the math level 2 test. You’d have to talk to an admissions person to find out what the school you are interested in does with the SAT II scores.
The goodness of a 760 depends greatly on which SAT II test you are talking about. e.g. 760 on math level 1 puts you in the top 3% of the people who took the math level 1 test.
