How do you make the most out of the services of an SAT tutor?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I will take the SAT in October, and I’ve hired a tutor. I anticipate there will be a lot of instruction, and it is difficult for me to pay attention to someone if they talk for long periods of time. I’m unsure however of how to make the most out of tutoring, is it doing the outside assignments he gives? is it asking questions?
For those of you who have had tutors for the SAT and improved by 100+ points or more as a result, what did you do with your tutor that allowed you to make that push?

It depends what type of learner you are, but quite a number of people are active learners, in the sense that not only one party is inputting. The tutor is inputting and so are you, you’re asking him/her questions and making statements concerning what you think on so and so and your tutor could comment on what you’re saying. The best part about having a personal tutor, is like having a personal "dictionary" for the subject which their teaching and to make the most use of them, don’t forget to do some work before your next lesson with them and ask as many questions as you possibly can, show them where and where you got stuck and of course you’re paying them so they can explain over and over until you get it. You don’t get this type of personal help from school, so make the most of it.
You have to do the practice tests FIRST before you see her.
Then, have her just concentrate on the areas in which you are lacking.
Remember, the goal is not really to thoroughly "learn" the area, just how to answer the question on the test.
Don’t hire a tutor that is just a smart woman.
Hire one that knows how to take the SAT test specifically.
