How can I test my harddrive cable in my laptop?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I keep getting the message NTRLD missing and I keep having to format and reinstalling windows xp. at the xp setup window I can’t use the "R" Key to repair it, my only option is to partition and install xp.. after I get this message NTRLD missing I try to boot from Harddrive and it mentions a problem with cable, but it doesn’t say much, just error on cable or something like that.
I’ve already tested my harddrive and it’s working fine.. How do I test the cable on the harddrive.. I really need help here as i’m at uni and I need my laptop to study cisco and I keep having to format to gain my OS. Thanking you in advance
Laptop doesn’t have cable for hard drive. The pins connects directly to the motherboard. In your case, you may want to reinstall/reformat the hard drive.
If still not work, you will need to change a new hard drive. There’s a very good website for you to troubleshoot this problem, just follow this link: http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm
I’ve had that error once and it turned out to be a bios setting. If you go into the bios on startup, make sure your boot sequence is correct. Usually, CD-ROM then HDD. There really is no easy way to test that cable without tearing the whole laptop apart. Hope this helps.
