how can I start preparing for the SAT and the ACT now?
I’m 13, and I’ve always heard how hard and stressful the SAT and the ACT are. How can I start preparing now? I flipped through an SAT book at barnes & noble, and it recommended studying an hour a night on week nights and four hours every Saturday for the year before you take the SAT! Do you really need that much preparation?

Honestly, at 13 the most you can do is improve your reading and writing skills through your everyday schoolwork. The hour every night and four hours on Saturdays is really when you get to like 2 months before the test, not 3 or 4 years.
I took the SAT without really studying or taking review classes. ( I did two full practice tests from the college board’s SAT book) and I scored a 2100. Really, you just have to learn the test: so do 2-3 practice tests, maybe skim through their tips on the sections tha gave you the most trouble and it’s all good.
The four hours thing for a year? bs! You can wait until junior year to not worry about SATs.
