Ethernet connection doesn’t work with Vonage?
I’m in the midst of installing my Vonage device. However, the Ethernet port on my laptop doesn’t work. I tested this using my cable modem; it works if I use the USB cable versus Ethernet. Unfortunately, my Vonage device works on Ethernet. I’d like to know if anyone has run into the same issue and if they were able to fix the problem. I’m waiting for Vonage Customer Support to contact me; not sure if I will need an Ethernet-USB adapter.

To switch between the ethernet port and the USB port of your modem, you have to power cycle the modem in MOST cases. Did you try that? Modems get setup to use one or the other, while they are on, you can’t get them to change the output!
That is question one.
If you still can’t get ethernet from the modem, your issue is with the modem.. start there!
Does your laptop even show a "connection" when you plug the modem in to the plug? If not is the ethernet adapter on your laptop even enabled? Right click the icon for it in "Network Connections" under the control panel and check its "status".

Vontage does not support Internet!They will give you telephone numbers of independent people that offer Internet services.I am afraid that because you switched to the value of Vontage now you will have xtra costs for high speed Internet.I recently checked on Vontage myself.That was the first question I asked them.Also you will pay for any extra telephones that you may add to your service ,so there is not that much savings on their offer in the long run.Sorry!!!!!
Did your device come with a ethernet cable ? It might be that you need to use a crossover cable to set this up .
