Dog-sitting preparation?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I’m going away for 10 days and I’m leaving my puppy with my mom’s good friend. I feel so guilty but I don’t really have much choice. I know she’s going to give him as much love as she can. She even said she would send her cat to her mothers place while he’s there.
I was reading somewhere that I could leave one of my shirts with him in his bed so he can always smell me, but I’m also worried about separation anxiety; even though I might not even need to worry about it.
He’s almost 8 months old and I’ve had him since Feb. There’s no chance he won’t remember me when I get back right? Anything else that I can do to make his stay better?
I Loved ! reading this question… When do I get such a great one.
Anyway, dogs can remember smell just like you can. Imagine you haven’t smelled a campfire marshmallow for 3 years, but suddenly smell one – you know exactly what it is!
Our lovely little friends will remember you without any help (especially since your trip is only 10 days). Please don’t feel guilty, as you also need to live your own life for a while!! Your little friend will be so happy when you get home!
It’s really nice that your mom’s friend said that she would send her cat away for a while since that is just a really nice offer (not that it would make your cute guy forget you!), but will make his stay away from you much more pleasant.
The only thing that you might be able to do to make his stay "better" (not that you really need to worry about it), but how about a favorite chew toy, or favorite ball, or favorite snack? If they even have one familiar smell around them (yes, I’m merging taste and smell here since they are quite alike), then he will be just fine!
I’m so glad to hear someone that cares for their guys/girls like you. Don’t worry, and just look forward to when you get to reunite!! It’s all worth the time away.
Have a great trip!
Talk to the owners to find out how long you’re going to need to pet sit. It’s important to ensure your schedule fits that time frame so they aren’t left with a few days to cover with someone else. Their dog will be happier with a consistent caregiver.
don’t worry i doubt your puppy will for get you in 10 days.
You can leave him with his favorite toy and the shirt may help with separation.
But if the the woman keeps him kind of busy he should be okay. Have her take him to a dog park everyday if she can.
I had a dog that i’d raised and bottle fed. when we’d go away for vacations and stuff we’d send him to a dog daycare, because i knew he’d be overwhelmed with spending time with so many times he wouldn’t have time to sit and wonder where we were. We left him at my uncles but they said he’d just sat and whined at the door the whole week. but at the daycare the people always give good reports.
Instead of shifting both animals around why not have the friend stat at your house?
She could have her mom stay with the cat or have a friend pop in daily to feed, scoop, etc. You could offer to pay her pet sitter if need be.
It’s stressful for an animal to be away from their people but it’s much more stressful for them to be away from their home on top of that!
No chance your dog will forget you in 10 days!
first off, good choice to leave him with a human being at a house.
but yes, bring his favorite toys and some belongings of yours and his favorite thing to lay on will help him relax.
also take him to visit who he is staying with so he can get used to it without the situation being a huge shock.
i just petsat a week ago fro the whole week and learned quite a bit
leave ur dog at a good dog trainee
yea just leave a shirt and a shoe with him
and just leave him toys and good food and a dog chew bone and treats
