Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
yes.
take it.
it helps HEAPPS
yes
a lot
Yes, it gets you prepared for the way the test is given and what kind of questions they will ask. Good luck!
Well it depends on how much one is engaged into studying.
If one is a procrasinater then they won’t think courses would be helpful.
Not really, they increase it by 40 to 50 points but they cost a lot of money. Also, they usually just give you advice as to what to do on the SAT, I would prefer just buying an SAT book like the new Collegeboard one and the Princeton Review cracking the SAT one, then working on those. That will help your score, A LOT.
Not for what its worth. I increased my score by 120 pts by using a test prep book. I would suggest that.
It depends on what kind of class (who’s running it) and what YOU do to help yourself.
There are classes that your own school offers you that really don’t do much. All you really do is take multiple practice tests. Although that will help your score, it won’t help it by much. Your best bet, if you want a really good score (my "really good score" definition is above 2100), you should go to an academy that is run by Asians, especially Koreans (I’m not being racist, I am Asian. Koreans tend to be very strict and very well organized in this area). They’re usually expensive, but they do help. These classes are usually structured so that each section of the test is broken down into a class. They go over each question and methods of answering them.
But, again, YOU have to put in the effort as well. You can sit in the class for hours and a few weeks or months, but still not improve your score by much if you don’t study the material they give you. Practice the math problems over and over. Find which parts you’re weak on and practice those problems. For writing, you have to try and find your own mistakes, and look over corrections the teacher makes. For critical reading, you have try to study vocabulary words and practice reading fast while analyzing/finding the main idea. You have to put in the effort. I cannot stress just how important that is.
yea. I took an SAT prep course one time, and at the beginning of the course I had a 380 out of 800 on my math section, but when I actually took the SAT the following march, I got a 550 out of 800.
So yeah, it can be pretty helpful. It also depends on where you were before though. If you took a practice test (and I think this applies for most standardized test prep) and got a 700-750 or better on a particular section (or on all sections), don’t expect to improve that much.
I had a 680 on the Writing part of the SAT on my first diagnostic (the one in which I got a 380 on the math section), but only got a 690 on the actual test.
Do what’s best for you.
