Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I’m looking to buy a new laptop. I have a laptop, but it is old and used and does not run well.

I’m planning on using this laptop for school writing assignments and taking notes in class, so I will need one that has a long battery life as well as one that is relatively light and portable.

I will also be using it for recreational purposes, such as e-mail, IM, games, etc. so I would need it to be able to handle downloads, photos, CDs, DVDs, and itunes easily.

Unfortunately I am also on a budget so I’m looking for the best possible price. I know absolutely nothing about computers/laptops/operating systems and everything like that.

And if it’s possible I’d like suggestions that will help me decide how to set it up once I buy the laptop.

I’d also prefer to buy a newer laptop, but I will deal with whatever suggestions are given because I trust my knowledge of computers, well, not at all.

As per your requirnments, I understand Dell’s new inspiron series laptops are quite cheap and will do it for you. As far as battery is concern, if you will go for 9-cell battery, it will last for 5-6 hours and it will be good enough for you. You can go for 1 GB/512 MBs RAM as per your usage. I suggest you buy dell Inspiron-1420.

Are you in the UK? Woolworths is selling a budget notebook for £200, it’s pretty solid and will do everything you want except for games – unless they are simple/older games. It’s very basic, but it’s a brand new machine for just £200. I’d buy it.

I’d recommend an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro. You can check them out at apple.com or find more affordable models at macmall.com.
