Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I’m not going to lie. My SAT’s are coming up this weekend, and I have done nothing to prepare for them. I have no prep books of any sort to help me. I know I’m more or less screwed, so you don’t have to tell me that. But if you were in my shoes, how exactly would you prepare yourself given only 2-3 days before the test?

PostHeaderIcon How should I prepare for the SAT Biology Subject Test?

I took Honors Bio in 10th grade but I didn’t learn a thing. My teacher was horrible and did not even give notes. We learned the material by doing endless amounts of worksheets.

I’m currently thinking about taking the SAT Bio Ecology Exam because I’m in AP Environmental Science. However, I know very little about Bio besides ecology, and I need a way to learn the material, review, and prepare for the exam.
I’m probably going to buy several review books (Barron’s, Kaplan, Princeton Review). I’m also thinking about buying a used textbook to review.
What review book and what textbook do you guys recommend? (Textbook needs to cover all the material and be easy to understand and get through).
Any other recommendations for SAT Bio preparation?

Thanks a lot!

PostHeaderIcon Preparation of Blackberries?

Is there something you are supposed to do to blackberries prior to eating them or cooking with them? Perhaps covering them with sugar and letting them sit, like you do with strawberries? I am talking about the fresh ones you get in those little plastic containers in the produce section. I bought a package of them and made blackberry pancakes with them last night, but the pancakes didn’t turn out very good. They just weren’t sweet. Are they supposed to taste like that? I cut them up and put them in the batter and cooked the pancakes like that. Did I do something wrong? I mean, they were okay, but not delicious like I thought they would be. Please tell me about preparation and cooking with blackberries if you know. I would be most grateful for some answers.

PostHeaderIcon How can I improve my Reading SAT score?

Ok, so I took the SATs for the first time back in October without any prior studying or preparation, and I scored a 2070 (800 in math, 640 in Reading, and 630 in Writing.)
My question is: what is the best way for me to raise my Reading score to 700+? (I could also use an increase in my writing too.)
Does anyone know any proven ways?
Thanks to the first answerer* lol

PostHeaderIcon Looking for preparation courses for GAMSAT in Perth Australia?

I am applying for graduate entry into medicine and as you know I need to sit the GAMSAT test. I am planning to sit it in March 2008. I am wondering whether anyone knows any preparation courses that would hopefully help me maximise my marks in the GAMSAT. I live in Perth, Western Australia. I tried googling it, but with no luck..most classes are run in the Eastern states. I am just hoping that perhaps you know one. Thank you!! :)

PostHeaderIcon Reading is a great way to build vocabulary. True?

People, even Collegeboard and other SAT preparation corporations, say reading builds one’s vocabulary. K so i’m actively reading a book and i come across a word i don’t know; do I continue reading or look it up? because looking up words you don’t know will take a longer time to finish the book and chances are you might forget the word.

so question is read or look it up?

PostHeaderIcon What is the best CMA exam preparation material?

I’m interested in sitting for the CMA, but the prep courses are so very expensive (I’m still in school). I’ve heard Gleim is really good, but it’s over 0. Are there any other good values out there or should I just sack up and get Gleim? Also, how much prep time do I need before each CMA exam (days? weeks? months?). Thanks!

PostHeaderIcon Are my SAT scores good?

I recently took a practice SAT in preparation for the real SAT in May. I just got my results. I got a 1790 overall, 510 for math, 600 critical reading, 680 for writing, and 8 for the essay.
My question is if these scores are good, considering it is my first SAT.
Also, what can I do to improve them? What did you guys do?
What colleges will these scores get me into?
I’m a junior currently.
Thanks

PostHeaderIcon Simple preparation for a two-pound young chicken?

I have a small chicken that a co-worker gave me and it’s been sitting in my freezer for two weeks. I don’t have the money to go out and buy special ingredients for a little thing like this and an old condition prevents me from being able to digest the tough matter of fruits and vegetables that I might otherwise have prepared it with. What can I do with it?
mistress_piper, thank you for paying attention to the details.

PostHeaderIcon Has anyone heard of the College Consultant Group?

I recently recieved a letter from College Consultant Group, Inc and they stated that they assist funding for college. They basically fill out financial applications, provide career planning, offer SAT/ ACT preparation, and attain scholarships for students. They are hosting an interview in my area and have invited me to attend. I am a bit skeptical about their credibility. There is a BBB reliability stamp on the letter but I don’t recognize the significance of that stamp. Has anyone heard about this organization, worked with this organization, or can clarify if this is actually free and legitimate?

PostHeaderIcon Dog-sitting preparation?

I’m going away for 10 days and I’m leaving my puppy with my mom’s good friend. I feel so guilty but I don’t really have much choice. I know she’s going to give him as much love as she can. She even said she would send her cat to her mothers place while he’s there.

I was reading somewhere that I could leave one of my shirts with him in his bed so he can always smell me, but I’m also worried about separation anxiety; even though I might not even need to worry about it.

He’s almost 8 months old and I’ve had him since Feb. There’s no chance he won’t remember me when I get back right? Anything else that I can do to make his stay better?
