PostHeaderIcon Good book for SAT II?

Browse the site to learn more about psat prep course, gmat prep exam, act preparation classes, college board sats and more

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

Do you any good preparation book for SAT II subject test? Literature, US History and Math 2.

Should I do science? Biology or Chemistry?

PostHeaderIcon Should I go to a Canadian university or American?

I am currently living in Canada.
I have decent grades (91% average in the first term of 11th grade).
Should I work through all the US preparations (SAT’s) or just go to a Canadian school, a much cheaper and easier process?
Is the prestige of American schools really worth the price and effort?
Maybe I should just finish undergraduate studies here in Canada, then transfer to a prestigious institution?
I need to decide on this soon.
Please provide any advice or useful websites or other information sources. Thank you!

PostHeaderIcon Is this adequate preparation for SAT math?

So I want to score at least a 700 on the math section of the SAT, and I have been doing the problems on this one website to prepare, so I was wondering:
Are these problems(below) adequate preparation for me in order for me to score at least a 700?:

PostHeaderIcon Which exam is easier? The SAT or the ACT.?

I have to take the SAT or the ACT to get into a university in the US. Which one is easier? The SAT or the ACT. How hard is it to score 1200 in the SAT? Are there any preparation classes I can take in the UK?

PostHeaderIcon Do I HAVE to go to an SAT prep class to do well?

Or could I use an alternative method and get the same results?

I’m going into my Jr. year of HS September 4 and I haven’t taken the PSAT or SAT, nor have I had any preparation for it. My mom talked to Sylvan Learning Center today about a class they have for SAT prep, but it’s 00 for one month of training? Hmmmmm… I’m PRETTY SURE I won’t have time to go everyday, nor would I want to, so I don’t see how 00 is a reasonable cost being as that I KNOW there are other programs and methods that are cheaper. We have the money, it’s just that, me personally, I would think it’s a waste of my parents money… especially since I already want/need a lot of things to be bought for me this month (my birthdays this month, school starts in September, etc.)

What are some different methods of preparing for it or how did you prepare for it? Books? Classes? What?

And if you did take it, what was your score?

PostHeaderIcon Should I take the ACT and the SAT?

My ACT score is a 33 currently, and I plan to get it up to a 35, but my SAT score is around a 2100 without any preparation. I want to apply to competitive schools, so would it be beneficial to take both the SAT and ACT (after studying a lot for the SAT) or just take my ACT and leave it at that?

basically, does it make a difference if you send in both scores or not?
thanks!

does anyone know any really good websites with free reviews and preparation for the ACT and SAT testing? thank you!

PostHeaderIcon Preparation for PA state civil service exam?

Is there any way to be prepared for this? Should I think about getting a prep manual for the exam? Are those out there? Is it tough? I’m imagining something like the SAT, especially since there are additional sections because of the field I’m going for. My math is a little rusty, I was thinking about practicing math questions in my GRE prep book.

I just graduated college and am driving 5 hours to take it b/c it is the only exam location that has openings in September. Otherwise I’m stuck waiting until November and I really want to start working sooner than that. So basically I REALLY don’t want to mess this up. Any advice?

PostHeaderIcon Anyone Taken The SAT (10 Points)?

Is the writing really hard to do well on? At this SAT preparation course students, including my friend and I, took practice tests similar to the SAT, which I know because of taking tests from the blue College Board book and asking another friend who took the SAT and the same course when she was our age, about 2-3 years ago.

My friend got an 800 on writing, and I got a 740, but for some reason when she took the real SAT (I haven’t yet), she only scored a 600. What gives? She was really good at writing and did assignments for 25 minutes in 10 minutes, getting maybe 1 wrong. Also the person who is most likely gonig to be valedictorian at our school only got a 710.

Any tips? In the College Board book I’m scoring in the 700s, getting only maybe 4 wrong with. I think my essays are pretty good. I need a good writing score because math is the easiest for me, probably a pretty easy 770+, but critical reading I’m only getting mid to high 600s. I was counting on the writing, which is easy for me, to get me around 2150-2200, but people aren’t doing good on it. Why?? Advice???
Also, on the PSAT I got a 68 on writing (HOWEVER, only 3 were wrong and none blank; it must have been a bad curve, and after looking at the PSAT I realized one or two of those errors were really stupid mistakes).
I know I need a good score for good colleges. I don’t really need help with writing since I’m getting almost every question right under timed conditions. I just don’t get why such smart people are doing so poorly, including my friend who got an 800 on writing for a practice test similar to the SAT.

PostHeaderIcon which SAT prep is the best?

What kind is the most beneficial, a book or a class. Are either one helpful. If a class is better, which class is the best? Basically what is the best and most beneficial way to prepare for the SAT?
What about the ACT, is preparation needed and if so how?

PostHeaderIcon Spanakopita Triangle Preparation?

I’ve read several things on the internet that you can make Spanakopita triangles & freeze them, then when you’re ready to use them just pop them in the oven (no thawing is necessary). My question is, can you prepare it, put it in the refrigerator &d then cook it the next day. Will anything happen to the phyllo dough? I know it’s pretty brittle when thawed & wasn’t sure what would happen to it sitting in the refrigerator with the spinach & feta inside it (all prepared).

Today would be a good day for me to prepare & freeze so I can cook it next Saturday but unfortunately I have absolutely no room in my freezer so I was thinking of preparing everything next Friday, putting it in the fridge & then cooking the next morning.

It would be great to hear from those who have actually done this and chefs too! Thanks so much!!!

ps: The recipe I have calls for unsalted butter, spinach, onions, feta cheese, eggs, oil, fresh dill, a small amount of flower & salt & pepper. Anything missing?

PostHeaderIcon How can someone get a 12/12 on the SAT essay?

All the example perfect essay’s I’ve seen are just light years ahead of what you’d expect from something written in under 25 minutes and with no prior preparation for that specific prompt. How do people go about doing this?

PostHeaderIcon Should I submit my SAT scores/ACT scores to Holy Cross?

After finding out how Holy Cross doesn’t require any standardized tests, I am ecstatic, especially the fact that it doesn’t put me at a disadvantage.

My SAT scores are as follows:
SAT Reasoning Test
1250/1920

SAT IIs:
Chemistry: 720
US History: 750
Math Level 1: 700
Math Level 2: 580, 620, 670

ACT: 30

I took the SAT once without preparation to see if it’s the test for me. Apparently, by my scores, it is not, therefore I opted for the ACT, which is a decent score. However, I’m really persistent on showing Holy Cross my SAT II scores. But I would have to send the SAT scores all at once, meaning they see my crappy reasoning test. So then I would have to submit my decent ACT score.

All in all, would this hurt me? I feel these standardized tests do not put me in a good light, because my school load and corresponding grades are much more impressive, considering how I always took honors and AP courses, giving me a 96.5 weighted GPA and a 94.2 GPA.

On a side note, should I give only 1 great teacher recommendation, or add another one? One social studies teacher I’ve known for 4 years and had in freshman year and now for AP Euro, wrote me a phenomenal letter. I feel it is sufficient. However, I also have another teacher in mind that I had for 2 years in a row for Honors Chemistry and then for AP Chemistry in my sophomore and junior year. Although I wasn’t the best student in the class, I actively participated, went to extra helps all the time, the teacher loves me, and he pushed me to my limits.
Here’s the thing, I can’t send individual SAT scores. It’s the whole thing, with the good and bad.

Also, I thought that the colleges will disregard the lower scores of my Math Level 2, because I have improved it over time.
I CAN’T SEND MY SAT II SCORES BY THEMSELVES!
The deadline for the interview was December 31st for an on campus one, and December 1st for an off campus alumni one. I didn’t do either….

Am I hurt by that and the fact that I didn’t visit? The interview is highly recommended, but I blew my chances apparently.

However, Holy Cross is sort of my within reach school, not necessarily a safety, but not a total reach.

PostHeaderIcon How is the FastForward Thinking course in NYC?

As a student who will embark on the senior year of high school in September, I am looking for the best course to take in preparation for the SAT. Due to schedule concerns, I either have to sign up for the Princeton Review course or the FastForward Thinking Course. I have not seen any opinion on the latter course, and would like to know someone else’s account on the class. If I do take this course, I will be in the honors class.

PostHeaderIcon A question concerning the SAT?

I have heard from a few people that there are certain types of questions on the SAT, not stating math, reading, and writing, but specifically certain TYPES of questions.

As in, in a math question, they are trying to sway you to one or another answer, testing your ability to differentiate between answers. Is it true that there are around 5 different types of questions – if yes, can you lead me to a link where I can study these types to ace the exam?

Also, what other ways would you recommend preparing for the SAT besides "The Official SAT Preparation Guide?"

PostHeaderIcon Question about PSAT vs. SAT?

PostHeaderIcon What is the best SAT prep book to begin with?

A friend and I are beginning our SAT preparation this year, but we don’t know what books to get! We are both 13 years old and in the eighth grade. I do realize this is very early, but I want to get into Chapman for a degree in law, so I’m sure you can understand. Thank you!

PostHeaderIcon SAT/Mock SAT result tips/advice?

Hello,

I’m a sophomore in high school and I want some tips and advice

for my preparation for SAT

I’m planning to take it in my senior year, Sept, Oct, Nov.

I took MOCK SAT at the beginning of the year and my score

was: math 700 reading 500 essay-> I didn’t get my result back

and I’m assuming it’s about 500 also.

I’m setting my goal at about 2200(the higher the goal the better)

I need some advice and tips to get there

English is my second language and my vocab’s really weak

How should I study for it? Should I read magazines? or

Should I study one of those "SAT VOCAB" books?

And I also need improvement in my essay

How should I prepare for that??

Also With 1 1/2 years left til I take the SAT do you think I can

get there??

Thanks

P.S. when you guys put tips and stuff, please tell how you studied and your results in SAT and your school GPA.

PostHeaderIcon When would you recommend taking the SAT’s?

I’m a junior in high school and on my PSAT i did ok, 1870 (without any preparation).
I’m debating weather or not i should take the SAT in June and Oct or just Oct.
I won’t be taking any prep classes before the June exam.
Would you recommend taking the SAT before taking classes?
Does it matter how many times you take it?

Did you find what you were looking for? psat prep course, gmat prep exam, act preparation classes, college board sats?
