Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
I have been working on the Princeton Review book. I am trying to raise my 1470 SAT score to an 1800 but so far I keep falling in the low 1700s range and I am trying to raise my scores in that area. Now school has begun so I have to put more emphasis on weekends.
Also, can self prep really raise your SAT score by a lot of points?
Are the Princeton Review SAT prep books harder than the real SAT or something?
Personal Tutors can be a big financial obligation. Some of my friends have paid almost a thousand dollars for a tutor and they still didn’t score as well as they wanted to. I think you should practice. The first time I took it I think I got the same score you did, but I took it again months later and I got a 1700 which is what I was aiming for.
There are some students who have done extremely well the second time. However, according to collegeboard.com they said the average improvement was like 30 points on each section.
I think you can do it. The SATS are very tough. I suggest you also do some outside training. For example, watch CNN and read Time Magazine or the New York Times. Reading articles and focusing can help. As for the math, I suggest you review your school work and try to apply it to the way the SAT administration would.
You can do it!

Ooh. I have never bought a Princeton Review book, but I’ve heard they’re good. And yes, most if not all SAT prep books are more difficult than the real SATs. So are the practice tests that most tutoring places give to students. This goes for AP tests as well.
Self prep can raise an SAT score if you do A LOT of practice tests. I suggest that you get a personal tutor or study in a group, though. Group study is effective because you can get help from people who are better than you in certain areas, and you can also solidify your knowledge in the areas that you know better than others do by teaching them. Just make sure that you don’t get distracted.
Good luck!
yes you can. but don’t overdo it, like don’t do a mock a day.
PRINCETON REVIEW SAT PREP BOOKS ARE HARDER THAN THE REAL SATS.
i have taken like 5 real SATs (previous SATs) and some of the princeton review and the princeton review scores i get are LOWER than my SAT prep books.
Talk of spending thousands of dollars on SAT private tutoring and here’s something free of cost (at least as of now).
