PostHeaderIcon Should I buy laptop in Korea or USA?

Browse the site to learn more about psat prep course, gmat prep exam, act preparation classes, college board sats and more

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!

I am going to be attending grad school (for 4 years) in Ohio in the fall. And I am visiting my family in Korea right now and my uncle wants to buy me a new laptop for graduation gift/being accepted to grad school. He and many others recommend SamSung laptop but I am not so sure because of these following reasons:

I have never owned a samsung laptop before (I’ve had toshiba, averatec which is piece of junk, and dell)

The samsung laptop is going to be in all in Korean. I am fluent in Korean but I am not so sure if I can have Microsoft Office in English for my school stuff.

If I am going to have valid warranty when I get to Ohio.

If I can convert my entire computer setting to English from Korean (I think I can but I am not so sure…)

If buying samsung laptop in Korea is cheaper or more expensive than buying a Dell or hp laptop in USA

I am looking for an everyday use laptop about 13-15 inch screen with 2.2-2.3 GHz processor (prefers Intel Core 2 Duo), 2-3GB memory with 250~350GB harddrive… if it’s not too much I would like a decent video card and decent battery(I’ve had bad experience with Dell 6 cell battery..)

If anyone ever have bought Samsung laptop and/or converted to English and brought back to USA and had problems (or not) please let me know. My uncle wants what’s best for me and offered to send money if it’s worth buying it in USA when I get back in the fall.

looking to spend about 1,000,000won more or less. (~1,200dollars for now I guess)

PostHeaderIcon Do I HAVE to take SAT prep classes to do well?

Or could I use an alternative method and get the same results?

I’m going into my Jr. year of HS September 4 and I haven’t taken the PSAT or SAT, nor have I had any preparation for it. My mom talked to Sylvan Learning Center today about a class they have for SAT prep, but it’s 00 for one month of training? Hmmmmm… I’m PRETTY SURE I won’t have time to go everyday, nor would I want to, so I don’t see how 00 is a reasonable cost being as that I KNOW there are other programs and methods that are cheaper. We have the money, it’s just that, me personally, I would think it’s a waste of my parents money… especially since I already want/need a lot of things to be bought for me this month (my birthdays this month, school starts in September, etc.)

What are some different methods of preparing for it or how did you prepare for it? Books? Classes? What?

And if you did take it, what was your score?

PostHeaderIcon If I omit the last 2 questions on each math section on the SAT, what’s the highest score i can get?

I know the math section is out of 800 but my tutor told me to omit the last 2 questions of each math section. So I was wondering, what is the highest grade I can get on the math section if I use this strategy?

PostHeaderIcon What is a good laptop to buy for around $400 dollars?

I’m in high school, so I obviously can’t afford much. I’ll have to save up Christmas money. We only have one computer in the house, so I would love to have a computer of my own. I have two brothers and it is very difficult to get to the computer when I need to do work for school. I would strictly be using this laptop to do homework, surfing the web, emailing, im’ing, etc.

PostHeaderIcon What are some really good ACT and SAT prep courses?

I have heard about Kaplan and Sylvan prep courses, but are there any other really good ones?

PostHeaderIcon SAT Scores = SAT Prep Class?

I took PSAT my Sophomore year and got a 141 (1410 respectively). My Junior PSAT score was 162 (1620 respectively) while my 1st SAT test was a 1630.
***I did not study for any of them***

I want to apply at Georgetown however I know my SAT scores aren’t good enough.

Question: Is a SAT prep class worth the 0? Or should I just buy test prep books? My school does not offer an SAT class.

Did you find what you were looking for? psat prep course, gmat prep exam, act preparation classes, college board sats?
