SAT Questions

i live in new jersey, so dont give me one that lives in montana or something

I am taking the PSAT in 21 days from now. I need some help. I want to score at least a 2000/2400 or 200/240. I am not very good with the Critical Reading portion. Should I read the passages given fully and then answer the questions or should I read the questions first and then skim through the passages?
For the Math portion, I’m not sure what is wrong. Math is my strongest subject. I am a 100 average student in Math. When it comes to PSAT and SAT math questions, im only getting 500s and 600s. I want to try and get the full 800 for the math.
For the Writing section, I am doing decent. I am usually very good with grammar but I still find this hard.

Can anyone give me some tips/help?
I’m reviewing as many psat and sat questions as i can. The critical reading and writing portion annoy me because i am pressed by time.

on it and it broke almost down the middle. I can’t afford to have it fixed, but I really like this coffee table and would like to repair it myself. Thank you for any suggestions.

I’m planning on taking the SAT in Spring and I’m looking for a book that has more practice questions. Im considering Princeton Reviews 11 Practice tests for the SAT and PSAT or Kaplans 12 practice tests for the SAT 2010. Which would be better? If anyone has any better books in mind feel free to tell me about them. Thanks

I know that I will be getting a laptop. But what type? Where do I buy it from? How can I get the best deal?

I would be using it for lots of random web searching, music downloading, saving pictures, and school work.

i’ve been looking to buy a SAT subject test prep book but i can’t decide on which is the best one…i’ve had good recommendations for pretty much all of them, mostly barron’s and princeton review…
someone offer an opinion? which do you think is the best and why??

Hi. I found an old abandoned laptop in my new office. There’s no hard drive in it, so I assume it’s had some problems. But I’d still like to see if it’s salvageable. I suppose I could just buy a new laptop hard drive and test it that way, but is there another way I could test the other elements of the computer without going that route? One thing that worries me is that I cannot get it to boot from the CD drive. I have an XP and a Linux boot disk, neither of which can get the computer to respond. It just starts up and then says it can’t find a hard drive.

I do have two other laptops and a desktop that I can use for diagnostics, if there’s a way to hook that laptop up to them and do some testing. Thanks!
It’s a Compaq Presario 2100 series, model 2175US. I have played in the BIOS, putting the CD drive up to boot first – no dice. I have looked through all the manuals on the Compaq website, but didn’t see anything applicable.
Actually, Knoppix is what I used. It’s a borrowed disk, though. I might try burning a "fresh" copy and seeing if that might work.
I created a new copy of Knoppix and verified its bootability on another laptop and a desktop. Unfortunately, the "broken" laptop couldn’t recognize the disk. I imagine there’s something wrong with the CD drive or its connection. It gets power, so the drive spins, but it’s not reading the disk. Any other suggestions? Or should I just write it off, especially if I need to get a hard drive and, possibly, a new optical drive as well?

So, i was wondering how far in advance one should start tutoring sessions for the SAT and the ACT? I have a woman who I am going to start weekly sessions with but she wants me to tell her when to start.

hey guys i was just wondering from someone who has actually used the SAT online course from CB are the math questions harder on it than it is on the real test, becasuse in the book im getting 680 where on the online course im getting about 100 lower!!! please help!

It would be great if it had some practice tests in it. I am aiming for a 30 on the ACT. Thanks!

Hi, I live in the UK and am seriously considering going to college in the US. I know I will have to take the SATs and was wondering:
a. How do they compare to A-Levels? I need to take Maths II and a science SAT for the places I’m interested in. How do these compare to AS level sciences and maths? I have looked on the collegeboard website but it is hard to judge from the limited number of questions.
b. What (if any) study guides people would recommend? — for the reasoning SAT as well as the subject tests.

I would really appreciate answers from people in the UK who have taken the SATs particularly Maths II, Physics or chemistry and studied these saubjects at A-level. But any opinions from people who’ve taken the tests would be great. Thanks =)

I am getting one of those notepad laptops for Christmas, and I was wondering if any one had any good ideas for which one to get. I would prefer a small laptop, not too fussed about if it can play games, but is able to get different software on such as adobe and word processor, things I can use for my school work. Internet access if also a must. Thankyou.

Are there materials on web which are designed for sat preparation which are also free?

i just did a speed test on my laptop using wireless connection and it come up with 8mb download and 1.3mb upload,surely this download speed is wrong.Is there a definite way of getting a accurate speed test.Also is there a way to test the speed when i am playing ps3 or xbox 360 online.Thanks for your answers.

can someone help me calculate approximately how much this will all cost me together? its not the adding part i have trouble with its the shipping and handling…i dont know how much shipping and handling usually costs…nor have i ever ordered online so yeah…kinda newb..

Do i really need to buy new study guides? Because i have some guides already but like problem is theyre not updated. its like from 2003 or 2005 or something..so is it nessesary to get new ones to update…or could i just compromise with the old ones?

LOL i have the 2003 or 2005 version which is at the library. the library where i live havent updated their study guides. i wanted the current ones but undecisive about whether or not i actually need them.

I am going to take the SAT. Sometimes, in my preparation for the essay component, I can think of a good piece of evidence that comes from the storyline of Twilight. It says in the directions its okay to use evidence from literature. Do you think that this is inappropriate and I will be marked down for "content" because its not scholarly enough?

i have got SAT exam after 4 days….Really worried abt the critical reading section. I think i spend too much time in reading and understanding paragraph (especially long ones) & don’t get enough time to answer the question ….. So what is better reading the paragraph first or read the question and read only the lines mentioned in the question?

Plus im taking AP Bio and AP US History 2 next year. im a sophomire now. what can i expect in the classes? ans are the AP Bio and US History 2 exams difficult?

I was just wondering, if i bought one of the microsoft xbox 360 controllers for Call of Duty 4 or Test Drive unlimited on my laptop, will it work?

And i know that a keyboard and mouse is better and more accurate but you must remember that im using my laptop and it isnt that easy.

sive to colleges. I got a 2180 on my first attempt on the SAT and was wondering if Ivy League Schools such as UPENN or Harvard would be more impressed that it came from a poor school as opposed to a Private Rich Kid School, where they are offered SAT classes and all that good stuff. It seems unfair to me that some people can afford SAT tutors and get perfect scores and thus get into these top schools.

I am going to take the SAT test soon.
To prepare for it, I’m thinking to buy the "The Official SAT Study Guide (TM)" and enroll in its online course, "The Official SAT Online Course™" (both by Collegeboard)..
I’m just wondering – has anyone tried the book and is it a good prep book? Also, anyone tried the online course? Does the online course prepare you well for the test? Is it worth its price?
Or do I have to take like real Saturday classes in order to do well on SAT?

For SAT II subject test, I’m planning to take Math, but I have no idea whether to take Math I or Math II. Is Math II a lot harder than Math I? What’s a good book to prepare me for either?
I might also take Chemistry. Is SAT II for Chemistry hard? Any book recommendation?
