Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his SAT.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great SAT guide that helped me a lot . So study hard and good luck!
1. A sector of a circle, AOB, with a central angle of 2pi/5 and a radios of 5 is bent to form a cone with Vertex O. What is the volume of Cone?
2. Each term of a sequence, after the first is inversely proportional to the term preceding it. If the first two terms are 2, 6 what is the 12th term?
1. A central angle of 2π would have an arc equal to the circumference of the circle (2πr=2π5=10π). A central angle of 2π/5 would yield an arc of (2π/5)(5)=2π. But that is now the circumference of the base of the cone. Thus the radius of the base of the cone is 1 and the area of the base is A = π r r = π. What is the height h of the cone? Well
5*5=1*1+h*h or h = √24 =2√6
The volume of a cone is (1/3)hA = (1/3) (2√6) π = ((2/3)√6) π
2. Inversely proportional usually means that y = k/x for some fixed k.
So 6=k/2 or k=12 and the sequence is 2 6 2 6 2 6 2 6 2 6 2 6, So the 12th term is 6.
